Lokale Anekdote: Wenn man die Straßensozialarbeiter anruft, weil es Schwierigkeiten gibt, sind die so überlastet, dass ihnen auch nix einfällt außer, dass man die Polizei rufen soll wenn es eskaliert.

The people in that pic you shared are literally dressed up for the performance. It's not derogatory or condescending, there is no insult. It's just academic speak clashing with vernacular. Big, creative, loud, colourful protests are important and inspiring and performative

Performative does not mean useless or fake. It means it doesn't directly effect change, for instance stop those ICE raids. They people going out during raids warning folks are doing direct action. The same folks going to a No Kings protest participate in performative action.

This reminds me of the German political party The Pirates, they pretty much disappeared now. For a while they made impressive gains, organising internally with a "fluid democracy" model mostly on the internet. I wonder what happened with that.

tbh, I never read "post-truth" as the truth isn't being reported but that it describes a situation where the truth has lost its power to create change because it has to share the stage with "alternative facts" and people just decide which narrative they prefer, no matter whether they are truthful
