Several things are simultaneously true about the new Pretti footage:
-he engaged in vandalism for which he could have been charged.
-he was not always non-violent or merely "observing".
-his aggressive actions may have put him on the feds' radar.
-he did nothing last Saturday to justify his killing.

Writing with @rupertread.bsky.social about just how devastating the Government- suppressed security report is, particularly its conclusions about our food insecurity. Ministers should be helping to build our resilience to these threats, not burying the report that contains them 👇

Admissions of extreme, eco-caused national security threats foreground importance of climate adaptation to bring much needed urgency and agency.

Ground rent cap is good news (though peppercorn would be better straight away). Also welcome is promised abolition of new leasehold properties. Better still would be the outright abolition of leasehold altogether, a feudal anachronism virtually unique to England and Wales.

The Tories' guidance did not deliver the consistency schools need.

Labour has strengthened the guidance to make our position explicit – all schools should be phone-free environments for the entire school day.

I have written to heads to make that clear.

I think this point has been underplayed. Someone who chooses not to stand as an MP in 2024 because they think another mayoral term better serves their ambitions then changes their mind 18 months in isn't necessarily the person to bring the party together and show the country Labour are serious
Burnhams behaviour demonstrated he would not be a better leader. Could have completed his term in Manchester as promised, campaigned hard for the candidate, claimed they won in part because of his own personal popularity and waited. Looks like an egotistical opportunist rather than a statesman

Journalists should be verifying facts, not quoting opposing viewpoints - advice as old as the hills but now under threat.
The BBC coverage is absolutely terrible.

It leads on "sharply contested narratives"

It has a dramatic skew to the US government

It has posted the video but has failed to report on what it shows: it shows the US govt account is untrue
