Yesterday someone told me they were attending an "AI and HI (Human Intelligence)" conference in a few months and all my other villain origin stories disappeared because this is the one. This is how I lose my mind and become a villain are you kidding me how is this real

…I'm so goddam tired. Ppl are increasingly in their city halls about "AI" data centers making their water & power bills & air quality worse, & literally all Dems would have to do sew up up that bloc is *Vibe With That Energy.*

It's affordability & billionaire overreach all in one package you dorks!
Hakeem Jeffries' AI Commission is littered with corporate and tech-friendly Dems. AI is wildly unpopular, yet too many national Democratic leaders are rejecting that reality in favor of wooing back Silicon Valley. From our friends at @revolvingdoordc.bsky.social:

Democratic Voters Are Clamoring for AI Regulation. Their Leaders Aren’t Interested. - The American Prospect
A new AI commission established by House Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries includes several corporate-friendly legislators.

Problems that were overblown:

• quicksand
• people offering me drugs
• getting lost in the Bermuda Triangle

Problems I was not sufficiently warned about:

• arguing with robots about unexpected items in bagging areas
• remembering all my passwords
• existential dread

Amazing but also once again, kids are demanding that the adults just do the right goddamn thing.
Good morning! I’m currently at Beaverton High School in OR where a mass student walk out has just started to demand a proactive ICE protocol for their school and district.

Students say that similar walkouts were planned at multiple other high schools, including Aloha, Sunset, Southridge & more.

Getting older is so weird. Supervising a social work student this year and they were saying how how wild the war on drugs was, they'd never heard of it before, just learned about it in class and I had to stop for a second and remind myself that this person wasn't born until the '00s.

Look, I'm just gonna tell cishet white people right now--Newsom ain't the one. You got Walz and Pritzker out here. You do not need a Bill Clinton clone wearing Mitt Romney's skin.
California Governor Gavin Newsom said on Thursday that the Democratic Party needed to be “more culturally normal” and “less judgmental.”

Friendly reminder that on top of everything else, SpotShotter tech doesn’t even do what it claims it does.

It’s inaccurate, easily misled by errant noises, and very expensive.
Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson has proposed disastrous cuts to our city's libraries while setting aside $5M for a ShotSpotter replacement. As library associate Sara Heymann told me, “Libraries embody everything we need to fight back against fascism.” My piece on what’s at stake and how to fight back:
You Can’t Fight Fascism While Defunding Libraries
“Libraries embody everything that we need right now to fight back against fascism," says Sara Heymann.

Actually in the spirit of this conversation, what’s a decision you made about a past Thanksgiving holiday that really paid off? I think people often feel trapped by their lives. Sharing our experiences can liberate us from that sense of claustrophobia.
On the most recent episode of VIBE CHECK, we answer listener questions about Thanksgiving, most importantly “do you go celebrate with the family members you don’t even like?”

The Trump administration has a new mass deportation playbook.

We’ve seen it in Los Angeles, Chicago, and Charlotte. And it’s coming to more cities.
