Holy cats! Snow is on the horizon up here in N. Michigan!
This is such a BRILLIANT idea. Interviews would be streamlined, candidates could speak intelligently with the facts in front of them. But of course, it'll never happen but ah to dream.
What if libraries provided 1-page info sheets for job candidates? For a cataloger position, this might look like: we've been using [x] ILS for [x] many years, we're part of [x] consortia, our departmental strengths are [x, y, z], the projects on our horizon are [a, b, c]. 📚

as fake videos become harder to spot (and honestly I've seen audio desync in a similar way on real footage posted here) it really is important to consider sources, find originals, and think critically. the social media tendency to glance briefly then repost can't survive this onslaught of bullshit.

My Lego MINI is done! ❤️ Considering the pieces were loose in a bag for nearly a decade and I didn’t lose one is amazing. I have a few more Lego sets to do but need to clean off some space off a few bookshelves first.
Cozy Saturday has begun! Wearing my velour track suit and fuzzy slippers. Drinking hot cocoa with mini marshmallows, planning on finishing my LEGO MINI, fireplace is going, Kristin is here, and we are watching cozy mysteries. I have been looking forward to this weekend all week!
How does this only have 16K views? How is this not reposted more? How are y’all not listening?
Forest is 18 w/ -12 so relegation table. I forget who 17 is, but they have -5 which means we need to win a zillion games to get out. We’re on our third head coach and this is game 10 this season. We’re playing ManU today and they scored at 35:00. I AM TRYING TO HAVE HOPE. #EPL
In the year of our lord, 2025, our insurance agent had me listed as "unmarried" because Mr. Lisa and I have different last names.
This was super fun!
In class today, I showed my students four short, unidentified excerpts from novels, and we talked about which one was the "best" and what it means for prose to be "good." I'm actually curious if you all will agree with them. so here goes:

I attended a workshop for a writer's group on Canva. The presenter, also a writer, spent 10 minutes on how to use Canva's AI features to "outline" and get ideas for your work. I came for the graphics, ma'am, not some BS on using AI.

If you want some vintage Cavill, before he became a pop cultural lightning rod for various factions, you must watch him in The Tudors. It's one of the best historical bodice-rippers ever filmed, and by the end, Cavill, who plays the Duke of Suffolk, is basically carrying the entire show by himself.

Because people think you're a bitch if you don't.

This is, in imho, a crock of shit. You have my resume. You have my cover letter. You've asked me to do free labor. If you can't ask the questions that require more discussion, then fuck off.
And if you're a librarian or bookseller or book reviewer (or similar), it's on Netgalley!
My latest rom-com An Academic Affair has been out in Australia/NZ/UK for a little while, but it comes out in the US and Canada on November 11! It's about two rival academics who get married to take advantage of a partner hire clause in the broken jobs market.
