Telling the federal court that IL police can handle Broadview was part of the state's legal strategy against national guard being deployed here.

But it's hard to square that as for the good of protestors or Illinoisans as a whole, when IL police are perfectly willing to drag and beat them anyway.

state police continue to push protesters down 25th street. at one point, cops swarmed a group of people and pushed them to the ground.

multiple people arrested.

This reminds me of watching NCIS back in the day with my parents… and the characters taking “the 95” from the Navy Yard to Naval Station Norfolk like it was a 10-minute drive away.

Which could be whatever, but it's being promoted and reviewed as if it's chillingly realistic. Vast gulf between how it's being taken by critics and just, like, not even experts but the most modestly informed laymen who know things like "planes take hours to fly somewhere, not minutes."

Now is the time to support trans people.

Venmo: @MayorDefiant

I am transfemme and I write interactive fiction in a matriarchal island city off the Pacific Northwestern coast and the team of heroes who built it.
The Regulators of Eminence pose on Pier 26, with the Statue of Libertas in the background on the far right.

From left, Thistle McKelly, Myria Klepzig, Phoebe Mosey, Harold Harris, Hellebore, and Emmiko Kieta.

Above them, Myria uses her magic to display symbols of the six Petals of Eminence.

I keep coming back to the idea that the last presidential election essentially shred the social contract to bits but people who voted for racial profiling by the secret police still really want us to be polite to them.

If any folks in Orlando are looking for a place to speak out about this, the Dezers own a weird indoor theme park / private car collection attraction… Dezerland.
A cartoonish map of Dezerland - a monument to grotesque wealth and opulence.

Being neurodivergent means you over-explain EVERYTHING in hopes of clear communication, then get anxious that your over-explanation was irritating and actually made things more confusing 🫤

Huh: TikTok took down my 8-second video featuring this image of Debbie Brockman — the news producer just detained by Trump’s CBP agents — saying it violates the “joy of TikTok”

I adore my Tomorrowland-referencing red NASA meatball cap… but I do wear it less often than I used to. That hurts because it’s an object that’s supposed to mean “Optimism.”

I’m lucky it doesn’t have the same starched, stilted profile of those other hats. It looks like a *real* ballcap.

George was just trying to get to work.

ICE pepper-sprayed him, dragged him from his car, locked him in a detention center, and placed him on suicide watch. He even missed his young daughter’s birthday in the process.

This man is a veteran and American citizen. Don't look away.

"They put me on suicide watch and they put me in the cell, I'm naked, in like a hospital dress and just a concrete bed with like a mattress, like a thin mattress and, they leave the light on 24/7."

Born OTD in Washington, D.C. in 1893, A. A. Taylor. Historian of the Black South and author of the Negro in Tenn. and the famed The Negro in the Reconstruction of Virginia. Taylor was a member and historian for Carter Woodson's ASNLH. This is his former Irving St. NW home.
A row of houses, attached on either side to neighboring homes. They sit on a slight hill and have small front yards. A gray, two level rowhouse. It has an enclosed front porch and steps leading to the front door to the left of the frame. A black and white photo of historian A. A. Taylor. His hair is graying and he is wearing a dark, three piece suit.

Wait... wut!? The vogue of Confederate monumentation (later 1880s-1960s) happened in tandem with the peak of white vigilante violence (early 1880s-1940s).

Admittedly, I haven't watch the vid yet. But I'm just flabbergasted at the assertion you have to counter.

Today my daughter's preschool is holding a farewell assembly for one of her classmates whose mother has no choice but to self deport. The school is hoping it will be joyful in tone, so we might make this less upsetting for this 3 year old.

There's just no words for the uselessness of this cruelty.
