I'm still smarting about this a day later.
The layers of ideology and abstraction you must be on to believe that a protest poses an immediate threat to student safety, but the masked police who have already killed two residents are epistemologically incapable of being a 'dangerous situation.'
Just got an email from the U admin. This is a part of it. I have a question:

What if federal agents are breaking the law by attempting to kidnap a student, faculty or staff member who is here legally just on the basis of the color of their skin? Will UMPD "impede upon federal actions" then?

I often think of Cleopatra’s daughter who was paraded through Rome after her mother and father’s defeat but apparently delivered such a charismatic performance in the parade that the people demanded that she be spared. the highest-stakes standup routine in history perhaps

Suburban observers say ICE has only been more aggressive since Homan: “I think they’re getting angry that we’re winning and the country is rallying around us. We’re so organized and we act with such integrity. They don’t want to admit they feel threatened by us.”

Folks, the east side of St. Paul has been getting slammed by ICE and needs help. Harding High on the east side is like 50-75% vulnerable families and is currently feeding 60 families a week. Please consider giving here. www.gofundme.com/f/vvtc6j-rel...

again we do not really do a good job of explaining how wealthy people like Jeff Bezos are

his net worth is $253.2 billion.
so he could take one million dollars, and just light it on fire
and then do it again tomorrow
and again the day after that
and then do it every day for 693 years and 8 months

My spouse has a theory that the UMN turkeys on the east bank have formed a community with the students where they mutually reinforce each other's norms of walking around the area.
The free-roaming turkeys of Saint Paul, Minnesota:

- are enormous
- don’t know where they’re going
- have no plans or motivations
- don’t understand roads
- or anything at all, really

While Tom Homan was trying to grab headlines this morning ICE was again circling our schools. They’ve been out all morning and no “drawdown” is enough until every single one of these agents is out of our state and DHS is abolished.

I’ve long thought it’s better to say “it’s nice to see you” than “how are you?” bc it doesn’t put ppl who‘re struggling on the spot to be cheerful

But an interesting thing about how collective the trauma is in Minnesota—when you start a work mtg w “how are you?”, you often just get an honest answer

Right wing politics stem decades long. Its racists, anti-immigrant,-anti-black, anti-union, less regulatory and pro business talking points have taken a long time to become mainstream in American politics. The left or Democrats need to get adjusted and say things like abolish ICE. It’s a long fight.

I think one thing people outside Minnesota don't understand is that after Good and Pretti were killed by feds while observing, the most normal people you could imagine have made peace with the fact that they could be next, and they are still out there because they say it's the right thing to do.
“If I am killed doing this, throw my body at the White House, martyr the shit out of me & raise hell. Do not be sad. Do not think I would do anything differently. I would do it over & over again — this is too important to sit down & shut up and not do anything.” www.mprnews.org/story/2026/0...

I used to drink the dirty snow slush that accumulated on the corners in NYC. It would make me deliriously sick but after two weeks of extreme fever/dysentery I was able to see four seconds into the future for 36 hours. This would be an invaluable asset in combat but unfortunately I am a man of peace

It’s very true that Homan is retreating but it’s also true that 2,300 agents — or even fewer — can continue to inflict state terrorism on a broad scale here. I reject doomerism but also the inevitability of victory based on today’s events. Keep fighting & prepare for the long haul.
3,000 wasn’t enough to break Minnesota and they’re removing 23% without any concessions.

Homan has already talked about how they needed to rotate agents because it’s tough being “in the theater”. And they’re cutting their forces 23%? Might as well pull them all out.

They are so cooked.
