Thank you.

I have to renew my driving licence in mid-February because it’s ten years old. Then I have to renew it again two months later because I’ll be 70. Wouldn’t you think the DVLA could could avoid this sort of bureaucratic daftness with a simple tweak to their computers?

Happy 3/4 of a century to the MERL!!
Happy New Year everyone! We're back for another year and still in our celebrating era because we just turned 75, which is a grand age for anyone, even a museum
Happy New Year to everyone and a very happy 75th birthday to @themerl.bsky.social, which came into being officially on 1 January 1951 (the same day as the first national broadcast of The Archers).

I mean, he's not wrong, but that would mean facing up to the racists over freedom of movement. I don't think Starmer has the guts.
"I actually think now we've done deals with the US...with India which are in our national interest, we are better looking to the single market rather than the customs union for our further alignment" Keir Starmer 🧐

So he wants to align to the SM rather than the CU whilst sticking to his red lines.

I love the idea that governments have to stay on Twitter because that's where "their audience" is.

Like if you only announced your cabinet reshuffles on Bluesky Harry bloody Cole wouldn't make an account to read about it.

Everyone else has politics. They are above such petty notions
Relative independence 😂 yes because the hereditary peers have a real cross section of party affiliation and have no *quite literal* landed interest whatsoever.

Risible stuff.

Picture the scene. It's dark. It's cold outside. There's all sorts of extended family trapped together in a house. Tensions begin to rise. People argue. Somebody gets bumped off in the night.

While all that's going on at home you can go off and read your Agatha Christie book.
