I think Trump really believes the presidency imbues him with a super power to deem the innocent as guilty and the guilty as "treated very unfairly."

This is the key point. How does this not backfire on MAGA?
Setting aside for a second the lunacy and authoritarianism surrounding the Trump/Hegseth threat to court martial Mark Kelly, it is also politically moronic. No military court or jury would uphold this, and you only do Kelly a tremendous favor by making him more popular than ever.

The SS Edmund Fitzgerald was lost 50 years ago today — around the time Gordon Lightfoot was at work on a new album.

An experienced Great Lakes sailor who knew those waters well, he later told NPR he was surprised that media coverage gave “short shrift for such a monumental event.”

Senator Murphy is one of the Senate Democrats who needs to be in the leadership.

That so many Senate Dems ignored Schumer and are voting to stop fighting shows that Schumer has no ability to unite his caucus in a meaningful way.
I got back to my office after the vote last night and recorded this. There's no way to sugarcoat what happened. And my fear is that Trump gets stronger, not weaker, because of this acquiescence. I'm angry - like you. But I choose to keep fighting.

The Speaker of the House is telling the Fox News audience that a peaceful demonstration by Americans on the National Mall will actually be a gathering of organizations the administration has designated as violent terrorists.

Seems bad?
Mike Johnson: "We're so angry about it. I mean, I'm a very patient guy, but I've had it with these people. The theory we have right now -- they have a hate America rally that's scheduled for October 18 on the National Mall. It's the pro-Hamas wing and antifa people ... "

Democrats are proposing we extend tax credits that are helping millions of Americans better afford health care. Without them, ACA premiums will double.

71% of Americans support that position.

That’s the “crazy” policy Republicans are criticizing us for.

Along with Abraham Lincoln and Harriet Tubman, MLK, Jr is among the finest Americans we’ve ever produced.

Suggesting that Charlie Kirk should be honored with a statue in the Capitol is its own kind of revisionist history.
NEW: Rep. Anna Paulina Luna is calling on Speaker Mike Johnson to erect a statue of Charlie Kirk in the US Capitol.

Her colleague Rep. Andrew Clyde says he agrees, commenting “We have a statue of MLK in the Capitol, don’t we?”.

Everyone is losing their minds.

As someone who spent many hours listening to Kirk’s show on AM radio, I would say that he made Rush Limbaugh seem like Walter Cronkite by comparison, in terms of rhetorical tone and empirical rigor. The subtext of every show was “You don’t hate the left enough.”
