I also suggest if you can, find out about local Deaf community events. ASL like any language can be regional, so going to local events will not only help you retain a lot of what you're learning, but also learn about the ways in which the folks in your area communicate.

If you're trying to learn on your own, I suggest checking out Bill Vicars on YouTube. He's a teacher who records his lessons and shares them on his YouTube page for free and he starts from very basic levels.

This is sadly pretty standard for gender clinics and is a big reason why many prioritise getting baseline levels for a lot of shit that doesn't affect dosing or if you can start- they want to be able to use it later in retrospective research.

Oslo University Hospital caught using trans patients' journals for research purposes:
- Without the patients' consent to participate in research
- Affecting minors
