"Is there technology the left is excited about?" is the kind of question you only ask if you're wildly naive about technology.

mRNA vaccines. Heat pumps. Offshore wind. Urban mining. Sodium batteries.

But god forbid we're not fawning over every new implementation of Making Computers Bad At Math.

BREAKING: JD Vance comes out in support of birthright citizenship
From @theathletic.com: Vice President JD Vance does not seem to agree with Eileen Gu's choice to represent China, rather than the United States, at the Olympics. Gu, who was born in San Francisco, has won five medals for China, where her mother is from. nyti.ms/3ZJtaYv
JD Vance insinuates Eileen Gu should be representing the United States at Winter Olympics
Gu was born in 2003, and her mother, Yan Gu, is a first-generation Chinese immigrant. Her father is American.

I regularly see people wondering how it's possible that there are so many musicians and writers and film makers and artists from a tiny nation like Iceland.

And the answer is really simple: State funding for art education and artists. I literally get a salary from the government to write books.
I’m constantly astounded at the sheer level of artistic production coming out of Iceland. Novels, movies, music. Amazing.

SO MUCH FREAKING THIS
1 reason why I get so angry at anti-trans "safety in women's sports" people is NONE of them do SHIT or say ANYTHING about actual safety in womens sport. There are ongoing histories and challenges and abuses in sport, and folks are more than welcome to pay attention, and give a damn. But they don't.

a fucking pedophile sexually abused nearly every prospective and actual Olympian gymnast for over two decades, and the political discourse is hyper-fixated on the hypothetical unfairness of trans girls competing with cis girls

Chronic pain is disability. So to everybody out there in pain all the time, you're disabled. I know we keep our chronic pain to ourselves because no one wants to hear about it & do our best to manage. But if it affects your day to day functionality, you're a disabled person.

Someone has sure already made this observation but the fact they can convert all those empty warehouses into prison camps means they could have converted them into housing, community centers, job training centers or, hell, libraries or schools all along. It’s always a matter of will not resources.

My obnoxious hot take is that Wuthering Heights is a story of surviving narcissistic abuse & I always get annoyed when ppl say Catherine Earnshaw is the protagonist, rather than Catherine Linton.
