related, one time me and a couple friends were playing songs to each other that “made us emotional”. i played an instrumental track and one guy got mad because it didn’t have lyrics
my opinion on the Bad Bunny halftime show, and non-English music in general, is that i think a need to “be able to understand the lyrics” displays an embarrassing shallowness of the speaker to appreciate the voice as an instrument & to appreciate music as something other than a lyric delivery system

I say this with zero irony: if you are even tangentially a part of a retro video game community, it is your civic duty to push back against this company and shun anyone who doesn't. This is fascism tapping gently at the door and as soon as you let it in, it's going to invite its friends.

Have you tried Linux? Download Mint on your computer. It can literally run Puppy. It's literally on Guix. It can probably run MeeGo. Dude it works on MEPIS. You can run it on Pop. You can download Pop and run it. Log onto Pop right now. Dive into Pop. You can run it on Pop. Pop has it for you.

People still think I'm joking when I say DoDonPachi Dai Ou Jou Black Label is the best beginners shmup

You're never underpowered, no speed up's, score's irrelevant but you can see 'chain go up = bigger score', tiny yet obvious hitbox, no weird rank, lots of bombs, an exciting challenge every second
I'll keep saying this over & over - nobody got into shmups to play novice modes. They got into them because they saw Hibachi, Larsa, an Ikaruga double play or something like that. Devs gotta be confident & have a punk attitude & spend less time thinking about novices

Some modern STGs are conscious of possibly being anyone's first arcade scrolling shooter, and bend themselves into knots trying to be an entire genre tutorial before being their own identifiable game.

As ever, make the games/music/videos/writing you'd want to enjoy, and others will enjoy it too.

a sports bar i was at had a streaming jukebox, so i put on a bunch of death grips and pan sonic in a row. both the oldtimer patrons _and_ the bartender were like "who the fuck put on this shit" while i cowered in a corner somewhere
On national jukebox day I must come out against being able to control the jukebox from your phone, people should know who put on that awful song and you should stand there and support your taste with whole heart

SEGA: You get that Advanced Dungeons & Dragons soundtrack done?
YUZO KOSHIRO: Sure did boss, real fuckin Detroit techno, just like you asked
The Sega CD version of Eye of the Beholder is perfectly playable but does inexplicably have an all-timer soundtrack by Yuzo Koshiro that sounds like he is using music to separate himself from his humanity after his partner drowned mysteriously
