Something the "so you think the law means anything now" doomers fail to grasp: the importance of buying time. Nobody, and I mean NOBODY, has infinite resources and infinite capacity for managing complexity.

Make your opponent work. Make their every decision complex and their every move costly.

Who would have foreseen that by effectively stealing music from artists by stopping paying out on songs that have less than 1000 streams in the past 12 months would result in a first ever annual profit for Spotify?

You are MEMBERS OF CONGRESS.

If they threaten you with arrest for trying to access a site you are lawfully entitled to access, YOU MAKE THEM FUCKING ARREST YOU.

YOU MAKE THEM SLAP THE CUFFS ON A CONGRESSMAN LIVE ON TV, YOU MAKE THEM FUCKING DO IT.
Members of Congress say they were just denied entry to USAID headquarters on orders of Elon Musk and DOGE and were told to contact the State Department for any further information.

It would be nice to see them push a little further and just walk through, telling guards that they don’t have the authority to stop members of Congress from entering the building unless they’re acting under a Constitutionally passed law. Power is what you make it.
Dems have left the building and are continuing to address crowd outside, which includes current and fired USAID employees.

Just spitballing, but things that could happen today:
*Court injunction protecting USAID
*Dems demand hearings on Musk's role
*Someone introduce articles of impeachment
*Dem officeholders go to USAID offices with USAID workers
*Refuse to conduct any more Senate confirmations until this is resolved

If you cannot call it what it is when all in a week: a government removes every mention of a group of people, destroys information about them en masse, bans their discussion in schools, restricts their ability to travel and starts seizing and refusing their official identification, when will you?

see, if it were me, i’d introduce articles of impeachment. not because i think an impeachment is likely, but because i want those i represent to know i’m doing every possible thing, including long-shot things.

business as usual is the luxury of those who are safe. we, the people, aren’t.
Trump's been purging and intimidating USAID employees.

Now there’s a rumor he'll dissolve USAID as an independent agency.

It was created by JFK and established in law to further our national security and spread hope.

This'd be illegal and against our national interests.

No, I will not read “your substack.”

Stop calling your written work by a name that is synonymous with “funds nazi speech.”

Because what I read when you say “check out my substack” is “check out how I’m helping fund Nazi speech!”

No. I will not do that.

There needs to be a separate mcdonalds playplace for minors. The fact that I have to listen to these 6 year olds' harebrained takes on how to get me unstuck from this tube slide is so deeply unserious.

The Week this week described knobjobs first week as “shock and awe.” nope. not awed and, honestly, not shocked. Him coloring AT ALL between the governmental lines just pauses the revolution. There seems to be some sort of “what is enough to go out, find a nzi, and punch him” holding pattern.

Cannot stress how ineffective “this is not legal” messaging will be with Trump. He does not care about the constitution. His advisors are telling him to push the limits of the unitary executive theory. SCOTUS will side with Trump.

People are putting a lot of hope in the constitution & “by the book”
There is simply no plausible argument that the president has the constitutional authority to refuse to spend appropriated funds because he doesn’t like how the money is being spent.

The legality of policy impoundments is just not a close question.

He got clear of his legal issues and got rich from his crypto scam, so maybe all of them will just quit and let some public servants salvage things before so many people die. Because that is going to be the consequence of their utter incompetence and disdain for society and their fellow humans.

Literally the only thing I admire about the nazi party is they know exactly what their voters want (unbridled racism) and I would train for a sub-5 minute mile if it meant the dem leadership would understand a fraction of what we actually want instead of pushing slop
The DeepSeek announcement from China has been called by some AI’s “Sputnik moment” for America.

It’s precisely why I made AI a top priority in the last Congress and will keep at it.

We are a country of cry-bullies that elected a king among cry-bullies and the consequences are just so obvious. You come to understand how the phrase 'painfully obvious' comes to exist.
