Here’s my intro 🧵 in case yer curious…

Living in Switzerland the past 15+ years – originally from southwest AZ, then SF mid 90s-late 00s. Married, dad to two girls.

I opened a vinyl cafe/bar in my Swiss hometown of Winterthur a couple years back.

Eclectic music, film, culture, comic & zine nerd.

I presume it's mobile. I thought a "ghost train" in the UK was a "dark ride" – customers are carried along past jump scares. As far as I can see, this looks too small for that.

This sent me to Linda Fiorentino’s Wikipedia page. I was always intrigued by what happened to her career and remembered her reputation as being “difficult”. Reading it, I see where some of the “difficulties” may have stemmed from.
In a 1994 appearance on Late Show with David Letterman, Fiorentino said she chose to stop acting for a period of time after Warner Bros. executive Mark Canton told her during the filming of Vision Quest, "you have a great ass, but I think your jeans need to be tighter." She said she returned to acting later to pay off mounting credit card debt. director Paul Verhoeven invited Fiorentino to have a supporting role in Basic Instinct (eventually played by Jeanne Tripplehorn). However, Fiorentino wanted the lead role of Catherine Tramell (later played by Sharon Stone), although she was rebuffed due to having "breasts that were too small." He also accused Fiorentino of avoiding promotional duties after "going nuts" at the film's poster, which had spliced her head onto another woman's body and amplified her cleavage. "She never did a photo shoot," Smith said. "It's not like we were hinging on all that Fiorentino press - I fought to cast the woman in the movie." Fiorentino had a falling out with German producer Karel Dirka regarding provocative sex scenes. "You have rights, as an artist an as a woman," she said. "It's not as if I didn't agree to do some nudity. But they crossed the line. It was a question of integrity."

Very cool to learn that the mighty @insidesuk.bsky.social have just put up their majestic one-of-the-decade's-best 1993 album _Euphoria_ on Bandcamp, as well as the subsequent 45 minute single track 1994 release _Clear Skin_. Still fascinating and in their own world listening all these years on.

Progress on the art + culture kiosk shop: last month I formed a small group to help design the interior, going for a slim and modular upcycled approach, as the space is quite small and narrow. Really loving how it is coming together.

I think part of What's Going On with billionaires is that the daily friction of interacting with normal people is part of what anchors people to the real world, and once you have enough money to buy your way out of the friction you can knock down a load-bearing column propping up your sanity.
