Happy birthday, Edgar Allan Poe! If you hadn’t died under mysterious circumstances in 1849, you would’ve been 217 today.

I wrote some thoughts on finishing all of Poe's short fiction.

In this edition of explanations we didn’t need before this decade: If you are too lazy to write and prefer entering a poorly written, word salad prompt for a robot to do it for you, you are not a writer.

Hope this helps.

I don't know who needs to hear this, but cops are not allowed to shoot people just because you didn't do what they said.

That is called murder when they do that.

Some cops are working hard to convince people otherwise.

it is your DUTY as a parent to be basic and cringe. if your child says "6-7" and you do not say, loud enough for their friends to hear, "8-9?", causing profound silence and intense discomfort, you are neglecting your responsibilities. being cool is for kids. your days of being laughed WITH are over

I'm not making a living at this (Partner takes care of most bills. My income pays for vacations and I'm home with the kiddo afternoons) but it adds up to about:

56% teaching guitar lessons/tips at open mic nights
29.9% book sales
6.8% Patreon
6.7% writing workshops/event fees
That good “writers should talk honestly about money” post inspired me to calculate how I made my income this year. I made more from writing than usual, but not enough! (I encourage others to do this and post the results!)

51% book
23% writing
11% teaching
8% speaking
7% consulting/brand work

My newest creation is this fabric art Krampus. I designed and hand-sewed him. I also made his chain and bundle of sticks. He enjoys riding the yule moose through chthonic woodlands. His favorite wintertide treat is eggnog mixed with a bit of human soul.
