I really cannot overstate the danger we have been in but the increased danger we are now being put in by Trump and his wildly fascist actions against democratically held cities and states. It is not hyperbole to say that the Republicans are invading blue states and blue cities is an act of war.

The national-- and international-- response to COVID in the past few years has been broad denial of its persistent danger, and a refusal to alter our behavior in response to what we learned.

I should be asleep, but can’t stop thinking about a striking sanitation worker I met today. He told me about the time a trash bag full of human shit burst in his face, and he had to spend two days in the hospital to ensure he hadn’t contracted any dangerous diseases.
He makes $19 an hour.
