New hummingbird mechanic?! Tempting. Very tempting.
The Wingspan Americas expansion is live on the Stonemaier store. It will be available in brick & mortar in a few weeks.

Between this and last week's release of Sanibel, this is a big month for me! Hope you enjoy them both! ♥️🐦🐚

In the 2010s, the Icelandic tv station Channel 2 accidentally added subtitles from a gritty crime drama to an episode of Teletubbies.

I have translated some of the highlights

"a lot of people are posting about the bus kidnapping story, surely it can't be that bonkers"

my friends this is an actual odyssey
I just woke up from a nap and somehow while I was asleep, everyone on the bus has figured out we are not going to the right place

Listen: because I am hearing this a lot from folks who are in caregiving roles with disabled, sick, dying folks, elders, or children in their care:

You are not unable to do anything or unable to take action.

Care work IS justice work

The little treats after appts would be even better if I didn't have to acquire them for myself
I don't want to make doctor's appointments and schedule follow-ups. I want to be coaxed gently into a crate and taken to a vet.

It's really hard to keep the two cats on (different) special diets at the best of times...and now the baby is feeding them cheerios and choice bits from his meals 🫠

Massachusetts folks: I'm seeing some panic-inducing posts about the new SUVs at the ICE facility in Burlington. I wanted to share that LUCE believes the vehicles are unlikely to be used locally. That doesn't mean we won't see increased activity, but these vehicles are not an indication of that.

Cats are chattering at the windows; there's a big flock of juncos in the yard

Update: have reached the 1600s and a guy called "Five Fingered John" to distinguish him from the many other Johns of the same last name in town

Yes, they were all his close relatives. Yes, he had five fingers and a thumb on each hand. Yes, this part of the family tree has many loops 🫣
I dug through (digitized) 18th century newspapers today. Some of my ancestors've been in New England (Maine, Mass) waaaay longer than I thought. Might try to toodle past some of the addresses in Boston (mostly Dorchester & Roxbury) at some point

Accidentally scheduled multiple dr appts back-to-back this morning. Oops. Upside: everybody's set until next year

Woke up before the baby(?!) so I put muffins in the oven and am sipping coffee. There's an occasional tiny snore over the monitor

Baby fell asleep in my lap and I can't reach my laptop so I'm currently quite grateful I have Zotero synched to my phone

Welp, I figured out why the cats have been singing their hunting songs at night.

Mice are very cute, but they are NOT welcome to nest in my kitchen!

We're installing one of the Midea window-mounted heat pumps (originally designed to retrofit NYC public housing) this week and I'm excited

I gave a copy of the Anti-Planner to a family member who was always like "ADHD? I dunno" and it helped her a LOT. To the point she went and got evaluated (and diagnosed) for the first time at >60.
if you struggle to get stuff done when you don’t feel like it (or know someone who does and still needs a present), The Anti-Planner has:
✔ 165+ activities, strategies, and games
✔ no guilt
✔ no cliche advice
✔ just brain hacks that actually work from someone who's been there

Welp, I guess that's my kick in the pants to plan where we'll get off the highway to get local coffee tomorrow
and for anyone wondering: they ARE asking for a full boycott of ALL Starbucks while any union workers are on strike!
Don't buy Starbucks ANYTHING while workers are on strike!
