three years ago all the radical centrists got convinced via group chats that if we simply threw trans people under the bus, the fascists would let us win everything else.

instead we lost everything, and also trans people got thrown under the bus
where are people getting the idea that its either "supporting trans rights" or "continuing democracy". what kind of democracy do they want to live in. where "politically inconvenient" groups get thrown to the wolves every two to four years? doesnt sound good to me. why would you want that

There's a lot we know and a lot you definitely don't know. People definitely aren't the people you think they are. They aren't beasts of burden who for their own good need to be forced into jobs you want them to do, who just won't do anything at all if they get their basic needs met regardless.

If you campaigned for the presidency on a promise to destroy these assholes, you would win a landslide the size of FDR in 1936, when he campaigned on a promise to destroy these assholes.
Yes, Peter decided that the continued existence of our democracies isn't compatible with his desired level of personal freedom.

An absolute enemy of humanity.

To anyone tempted to celebrate Noem's big announcement that ICE will use body cams and that it will be expanded nationwide as funding is available...

That's already been official ICE policy for over two years.

absolutely brutal crosstabs here for NY-10 (Goldman) and NY-15 (Torres), where Democratic voters say they would be more likely to back a candidate who withholds US aid to Israel by 50-point margins
It seems the pro-Israel consensus among Democrats is well and truly dead at this point. Dem primary voters prefer candidates who refuse to travel to Israel (by net +45%) and back a bill to end military aid to Israel (by net +61%). www.filesforprogress.org/datasets/202...

New DFP poll finds that 42% of NYC Democrats would be less likely to vote for a Democratic congressional candidate who didn't endorse Zohran for mayor. And keep in mind this is 42% of all Democrats, not just 42% of Mamdani supporters! www.filesforprogress.org/datasets/202...

The Substack app apparently push alert promoted a Nazi newsletter to several users. Users have complained about it on Substack Notes but the company hasn’t responded. Generally push alert promos are for content a user is likely to interact with

I can’t wrap my head around how stupid it is to arrest someone for not having a home. How can that be a crime? Are we pretending that’s a choice?

But even beyond that, it is so much more expensive to arrest & imprison people than it is to provide housing! This is wasting so much of everyone’s money
"When you’re in an encampment and somebody goes down, there’s other people there with Narcan and there’s people who can revive them.

If you’re camping alone or maybe even with one other person, you might not notice them going down, because five minutes later, you know, they’re dead."

This story is wild. The FBI violated a warrant & took an innocent woman’s life savings. They never said why—because they don’t have to.

She sued to stop that. Her case was thrown out last week. So the feds can keep seizing people’s stuff without charges or explanation. reason.com/2025/07/28/t...
The FBI took her $40,000 without explaining why. She fought back—and lost.
There is little accountability in civil forfeiture, which allows law enforcement to seize assets without charging the owner with a crime.
