He was selling fruit with his family in Springbranch when he disappeared

They filed a missing person’s report & begged the public to help find him

Turns out he was in a Houston ICE detention facility

As a DD caseworker, I don't think I had a single kid client w an IEP that was in compliance. Shortage of specialists. So even the best plan couldn't be fulfilled bc there were no OT or speech or PT or whatever to actually work with the child

The end of federal enforcement of special ed laws. Some states - including MN - will likely be ok. But a lot of disabled kids in a lot of states are going to lose the education that federal law and decades of jurisprudence say they are owed.

There are reports that the *entire* office of special education at the US Dept of Education has been cut. These hardworking folks ensure kids with disabilities get equal access to a quality education.

I was a DD caseworker and, yes, can confirm. They also accuse others (usually POC) of cheating the system and complain that they/their child aren't getting enough...also don't dare raise their taxes! Always vote Republican bc that's working out soooooooo well.

A lot of parents blame schools for identifying their child's disabilities. They also blame doctors...which is why we are seeing this in P2025. It's deeply personal to them, the desire to gut the source of their own hurt. Instead of being allies or advocates, they are necropolitics psychos.

Gutting Medicaid also affects the ability to pay for DSPs. Some parents use those caregivers for child care (you're not supposed to but MANY do). That's gonna be a wake up call when they are suddenly full-time caregivers. Not gonna get mileage for transportation. No voc rehab.
