In addition to John’s many good points, the most criminally left off the list: Clue, GalaxyQuest, and Mean Girls. I’d also substitute Dogma for Clerks and Hot Fuzz for Shaun of the Dead but I won’t fight over it. And given how they’re stretching the definition of comedy, Die Hard should be on it.
The movie listed at #1 is so incredibly misplaced that it calls into question the veracity of the entire list. It belongs on the list, yes, but SO MUCH further down. An absolute, credibility-wrecking flub. Boo, @variety.com! Boo!

absolutely incredible -- CNN host introduces a segment about Trump's "new healthcare proposal," but less than two minutes later breaks into her script to announce "breaking news" that Trump's healthcare proposal is being postponed

I’m trying to find cites on the formal literature about how getting contradictory information from a biased sender makes that information more credible and I’m drawing a blank. I know it exists but I can’t find the right search terms to find it.

Can any of my fellow social scientists help out?

Looking forward to a few days of woke socialist Trump until someone else gets in his ear. Maybe he’ll say that we should raise taxes on the rich, which might get him in actual trouble.

Seriously, when I posted FSU polis I’d job listings for this year, there were so many comments making fun of FL and asking why anyone would apply to them. Well, because half the country is as bad or worse than FL on these issues. And it’s a good job outside of these issues.
I’d also like to thank Indiana for making Florida look good.
Indiana University, which has now been subordinated to the direct control of the Indiana GOP, announces that criticism of the MAGA movement and doctrines of the GOP is forbidden. An instructor is dismissed for speaking critical words about the MAGA movement.

This is the best explanation of the issue of the technical meaning of pedophile I’ve seen. Which isn’t surprising because Gianmarco is brilliant and if you haven’t seen his comedy, you should.

I appreciate Texas for making academic governance in Florida look benign.
“Texas A&M University System regents voted Thursday to limit how instructors may discuss matters like gender identity and race ideology in classrooms, tightening the rules in a conservative state where debates over academic freedom have flared for months.”

Yesterday, I read about a medical condition called “exploding head syndrome” so, of course, my head exploded while I slept last night.

Don’t worry, it’s not nearly as bad as it seems.

My view from working on autocracy is that Dems were winning on the biggest fight- making autocratization unpopular and now they're giving that up.

Those are the costs
I’m not sure the benefits outweigh the costs, but this is a reasonable case that there are benefits to ending the shutdown.
I will probably get excommunicated from Bsky for saying that, but I can see a case for ending the shutdown now.

- Millions of civil servants did not get a salary for over a month, and millions are losing SNAP going into the holiday season.

- But, just as important...

People seemed to have missed the implication of putting ‘reason’ in scare quotes. I don’t actually think MTG is reasonable.
When MTG is the voice of ‘reason’ in your party, your party has truly gone off the rails.
CNN: Johnson and Thune have downplayed the elections results. Are they wrong?

MARJORIE TAYLOR GREENE: I don't think they should downplay it. In Georgia we lost 2 very important Public Service Commission seats that were statewide races. I think that should be a big wakeup call.
