Just a reminder that the Trump admin calls immigrants who’ve fallen into drug addiction “the worst of the worst” criminals, no matter how long ago their addiction problems.

Republicans are pushing the SAVE Act not to stop voter fraud, but to disenfranchise millions of women & minorities. Since 1992, women have voted blue by 4 to 13 points. Rather than change policy to earn women's votes, they're changing rules to prevent women's votes. That's dictatorship. That's MAGA.
The SAVE Act Will End Voting Rights for Women in America

Ik volg best een aantal mensen op Substack, maar de bazen van Substack maken het er niet makkelijker op om het platform te supporten
"Censorship" and "Not platforming something" are not remotely the same, and this infuriating insistence on conflating the two is why I had zero moral choice other than to leave Substack.

Niks te zien hier. Gewoon doorlopen.
This is the second account - the first being in Chicago - of DHS agents mass detaining people and then *sorting them by race*.
More than 400 people, including hundreds of citizens, were “sorted” at gun point into racial and ethnic groups by 200 ICE agents who fired flash-bang grenades into cars with people inside, pointed guns at children & demanded their zip tied parents not comfort them. apple.news/Ausdx6kWtT0e...

This is the aftermath of an ICE kidnapping a few blocks from my home in St. Paul—an hour ago. A quiet street full of broken glass and at least three wrecked cars. The target of the kidnapping was taken away by ambulance. He was on a stretcher and covered by a sheet, though a cop said he was alive.

The Human Centipede van investeerders. Iedereen verhuurt aan iedereen met een marge erbovenop voor een product waar niemand om gevraagd heeft
Modeling debt is also tough in the case of Stargate Abilene as Lancium owns the land, appears to be building the power, then rents it to Crusoe, who builds the data center, who leases it to Oracle, who adds the actual servers and gpus, who rents to OpenAI.

And those GPUs depreciate at around 30% a year too. And aren't the GPUs, racks and buses something like 60% of the cost of a data center? And the debt is double digit coupons. Not a lot of, oh, what do the boomers call it? Oh, profits, yeah, those.

There you are.

Elon Musk's ambition to one day settle Mars appears to have taken a back seat for a rather nearer and more achievable goal – sending humans to live on the moon. https://cnn.it/46sbAMm

When my kid was 4 we started Bedtime Qs: ask anything you want during snuggles. His first Q: "What happens after we die?" Day 2: "Why do some people do mean things?" Day 3: "What was the very first plant?" MANY followup Qs. Explaining Gay was easy!
always so funny to me when people are like “how am I supposed to explain Gay to my kids?” my kid asks me way harder shit all the time. “why did they build the road this way? why are some people bad?” I don’t know. please ask me about Gay

I really do think this is an excellent metaphor for the moment.
I'm convinced AI is our generation's radium - a discovery with genuinely useful applications in specific, controlled circumstances that we stupidly put in everything from kid's toys to toothpaste until we realised the harm far too late where future generations will ask if we were out of our minds.

What’s also great is reading the dialogue with Claude where it stops and says “I need to stop and be honest with you about something important” and reveals it deleted every single photo. Software built for dunces

Democratizing the arts looks like universal income, low-barrier grants for both emerging and working artists, well-funded municipal arts & recreation programs, vibrant third spaces, and a well-funded public school system with progressive curriculum.

Not a free pass for corporate-owned slop engines.
Every instance of "AI democratizes the arts, you're classist and ableist and a gatekeeper for trying to stop it" is a slap in the face to the literally centuries of poor, disabled people making art on the margins and a crass lie in service of a machine that strips down and regurgitates dreams
