So excited to see my youngest daughter off to give a poster session at a physics conference in Denver. She's not even 21 and is attending by herself. I stayed up as long as I could to watch her flight on flightradar24. Just can't stay awake any longer.

So here's Andrew Cuomo reacting to Maria Bartiromo wondering if Mamdani will "change the look of New York" and have Muslim women "completely covered up," telling her that Mamdani "doesn't understand New York culture" because he has "dual citizenship" and "he's a citizen of Uganda."

Border Patrol or ICE. It doesn't matter to me. Homeland Security is done as a cabinet level agency. These people are toast as soon as there is change.

Truth. LLM's based on internet garbage will produce garbage. LLM's grounded on narrow domains with high quality input will fare better. I'm surprised they do as well as they do.

She is from a farm outside a town of maybe 1,000 people. There is a small diner in town serving usual farmer fare - burgers, chicken fried steak, meat loaf, etc. Absolutely no ethnic food of any type. She was visiting our family when she spoke of foreign food.

These are people living on farms in Iowa. They've not been anywhere except to the local tavern in town on Friday night. They still listen to Patsy Cline and Hank Williams on the juke box.

He is rightfully a piece of toast. He was bad enough without the Nazi stuff. I even was a bit forgiving of the skull - Marines have lots of tattoos and young kids just think they're cool. They don't know about Croatian Ustaše. The "1919" tattoo is undeniably of Nazi origins.

I'm a retired ANL GL. In prior shutdowns we had sufficient carryover and excess cash to continue operations for a while. I imagine ANL and other labs will soon cut back to core maintenance and site security. I'm sure they'll stop paying my health insurance! Sucks for all concerned.

Things haven't changed much. I kept a heavy sweater, pillow, blanket and small area rug at work for when I'd have to be there all night. That was back in the 90's. I did have an office that I could snooze in - not open like this photo.
