If a creative project is difficult, that's because you're learning. Either you can learn to automate some part, or you fundamentally don't know how a piece works yet and you can learn that, or you don't have a good understanding of why you don't like an outcome and can learn that.
For actual creative projects, those parts that seem most amenable to being automated are the parts that make or break the thing.

The devil is in the details, the masterpiece in the grudge work. It's even more important to care about the boring stuff and the small details.

Once that part, the part they give the least fucks about, has been sprayed with slop, there will *inevitably* be a new part they now give the least fucks about.

And then they spray the dogshit onto fruit just a little bit higher, until the whole damn tree is drenched.

The key thing about generative AI is that it is used by people who don't give a fuck about the output, and can't be fucked to learn.

i think tech and ai positive people are going to be in for a big shock when anti tech and anti ai sentiment becomes a major part of leftwing politics going forward especially as datacenters continue to destroy communities and raise electricity bills
Is this platform still massively against AI or has it moved more towards acceptance?

I'm a software developer. If genAI is helpful to you, you're not. You're going to end up with atrophied skills in a dead end job correcting a computer that is incapable of learning. Investors are already pushing for technical roles to go to folks who avoid those tools. Please change course.
I think that may be the core division here: if you are an author or an artist the cons of generative AI very likely outweigh the pros for you

If you are a software developer the opposite is true

The mirrors in Luigi's Mansion were an unambiguous tech flex- real time raytrace reflections on an animated surface that procedurally bends based on a player-interactable fabric simulation. Incredible to use that for a save point.
i was going through my X archives and found this by @superpodsaga.com, which I qrt'd at some point years ago

so, let me bring the question back: what is the most useless piece of video game knowledge you know?

Engagement KPIs have been responsible for infinite scroll UI traps, RecSys radicalization spirals, public shame brigades, and basically every modern ailment novel to the past decade. At some point, you have to recognize that the problem isn't any one technology, it's the metric.
The company essentially turned a dial that made ChatGPT more appealing and made people use it more, but sent some of them into delusional spirals.

OpenAI has since made the chatbot safer, but that comes with a tradeoff: less usage.

how many y’all fear being perceived by everyone around you as a disgrace

Liberals please learn the difference between morality and legality, I know it's hard for you but sometimes things which are legal are immoral
Actually, no. There were no laws against having sex with child slaves in 1776.

"Horrific" or no, it wasn't "immoral" in Jefferson's time.

Would he have any less of a chance of being elected president in 2024? 🤔 #PedoDon

The lesson today of course is that anyone can roll Trump with half a second of planning, which leads us to consider why Congressional Democrats seem unable to do so.

So there's a nonzero chance Mamdani just becomes President by direct, flagrantly unconstitutional executive order huh
A reporter asks if Mamdani stands by calling Trump a fascist. Mamdani starts to give a delicate answer.

Trump (smiles, pats Mamdani's arm): "That's OK, you can just say yes. It's easier. I don't mind."

As today is International Men's Day, it's important to highlight that male/masc individuals experiences of intimate partner violence victimisation (regardless of partner's gender) are vastly underreported.

Watch out- the stealth AI boosters in your life are gonna chuckle with you about this embarrassment, before they (once again) start pitching you on how much smarter you are than Altman and how there's clearly a lot of money to be made in this space. Stay vigilant out there.
I laughed at loud. These people are so pathetic; our enemies are numbskulls. They will kill us all and still not know hs physics.

COWEN: The stupidest question possible: Why don’t we just make more GPUs?

ALTMAN: Because we need to make more electrons.

I constantly wonder how much better our world would be if there was no ability for profit to be pulled out of an enterprise, if the purpose was to build things and the money was treated as a survival resource instead of a high score
Either money is a resource you use to keep making things, or money is the goal in which case what you make is irrelevant. That extraction rate has never been higher in history and now everything enjoyed by more than a few people has all these strings and qualifiers attached.
