Good thread on how the “let the dog choose” video is AI. I hated it for other reasons. It just seemed unlikely you’d have a big room of people. Also, dogs are awesome, but a mastiff choosing someone might not know they have a studio flat they are away from for 15 hours a day, for example.
Yeah, I mean, I'm critical of any video nowadays that is trying to elicit an emotional response, especially when it's asking for subs at the end. It's weird that all the people seem to end up with the dog they want. And shelters are overflowing, where are the rooms full of people wanting to adopt?

here are Ranganathan’s 5 Laws of Library Science.

1. Books are for use.
2. Every reader their book.
3. Every book its reader.
4. Save the time of the reader.
5. A library is a growing organism.

they can be read as a directive for technical efficiency. i read them as an ethical commitment. 📚

Please more of this clarification every time we talk about this. The first strike was murder. All the strikes are murder. The second strike was extra-mean murder, but shouldn’t distract from the fact that it’s all just murder.
Based on the facts recounted by the Senator, the two do sound “shipwrecked” for LOAC purposes.

But they were never lawful targets in the first place even if LOAC applied.

And LOAC doesn’t apply because there is no armed conflict.

Term for premeditated killing outside of armed conflict is murder.
WELKER: Lawmakers say the 2 men appeared to raise their arms potentially to surrender. Why did Admiral Bradley interpret these actions as anything other than them trying to survive?

TOM COTTON: They were sitting or standing on top of a capsized boat. They weren't floating helplessly in the water

There's a subset of GOPer that seems to have entered politics almost entirely for the potential to be adjacent to killing people and well imo that sort of person probably shouldn't be in office
WELKER: Is there any hard evidence showing this particular boat was headed to the US?

TOM COTTON: That didn't come up in my briefing

WELKER: Are you comfortable having the US target a boat that you're not sure is heading to the US?

COTTON: I'm not just comfortable with it -- I want to continue it

If you've ever been to a naturalization ceremony, you know they're filled with people whose palpable love of this country is twenty times stronger than the pinched "patriotism" of any native-born MAGA chud.

Just unspeakable assholery.
