You don't defeat fascism with love for fascists.
You defeat fascists with love for your neighbors.
That's the power of love. I understand now.
I finally understand.

I personally find the consistent approach by bigots to call every living transgender person an “activist” to be fucking disgusting.
And naturally, he falsely refers to me as a "transgender activist." I am not an activist. There's nothing wrong with activists. But I am not one. Meanwhile, he, a guy who has made his entire career about trying to stoke a moral panic about trans people, juat gets to be considered a journalist.

It's a trite point by now but if Biden ever spoke like this we'd have wall to wall media speculation about his mental fitness for at least 48 hours.
Trump: "Herschel Walker, speaking about loyal. How good a football player was Herschel? Now he's ambassador to the Bahamas. I don't know. Bahamas. Bermuda. Is he Bahamas? Whatever. It's a nice place."

The main reason for it is if someone's an activist (i.e involved in political action of some kind that might affect other people's lives) they cease, at least in the eyes of editors, to be a private figure who might not need their lives invading for chatting online with other people.
The phrase "trans activist" is goofy because like 95% of the time it's used it refers to a trans person simply existing.

Media, pointing at a woman buying a coffee: behold, a trans activist.

Woman: buying coffee is not activism stop being so fucking weird

Media: trans activist criticizes media

My guess is that the goal here is not only to punish the children for turning more people against ICE/DHS, but also to make news outlets think twice about reporting on kids' suffering at the hands of ICE/DHS, out of concern that doing so might lead to retaliation against the kids.
ProPublica published children's letters and drawings documenting their sadness and suffering at Dilley. And Dilley staff are now retaliating by confiscating kids' letters and drawings.
