GenX snarkbeast. Artist (traditional+craft+AI). Cat mom. Horror junkie. Chaos Muse (aka 'next level weirdness magnet'). In a perpetual state of too much or too little coffee. Not as interesting as the conspiracy theories about me might make one think.

I need a pinned tweet, and it's just going to have to be 'newfound favorite phrases'.

'shoot and scoot operations' is, I feel, an appropriate inaugural entry.

Y’all take Dave Troy seriously and he’s spouting baloney like this? Come on, y’all. 😂
Dave Troy X post

“This is because Bitcoin is the ideological heir to the Protocols of the Elders of Zion. You are poking at primal forces here.”

a key thing about vought — and all of these guys — is that they have a totally top down and hierarchical vision of the world. they believe that the cultural changes they hate can be turned off by destroying the federal government because they can’t imagine that they emerged bottom-up in society

What he’s railing against is a profound shift in culture, status… He’s obsessed with the idea that America is controlled by a leftist “ruling elite” - but “elite” isn’t defined socio-economically or by political power, it means something like: Getting to define “real America” and who gets to belong.

Ages ago, I took a course titled 'Myth, Art, and Religion'. The prof was a dead ringer for Lyle Lovett and always wore ties with mythical creatures on them.

What I wouldn't give to watch an argument between the two. It'd be over quick.

Also, Thiel wanting to do religious analysis on stuff like Watchmen and One Piece is like the ultimate synthesis of the nerdy fandom side and Christian Nationalism side of Trump’s coalition. No one encapsulates Trump’s coalition better than Thiel I believe.

The "traditional views on religion" part is even more troubling, in my opinion. This is 100% Christian nationalist wording.

I know there are people who are going to roll their eyes at this

Those people are stupid. Every tool should be on the table and this is a very specifically powerful one for a lot of folks

For any Catholic, the sight of a Eucharistic Procession being turned away at the gates of the destination is the embodiment of Jesus being denied entrance. You don't have to be Catholic to get the symbolism in that!

I've been around guys so awful I'd consider being launched into space to escape, so there is a part of me that's grateful we do, indeed, have the technology to manage that if push comes to shove.

Even the Space Program used to be more fun in the past.

...pretty sure that by the end of the week this will be all that's left of the space program, so it's timely.

It’s important to understand that the demonization of ‘Antifa’ isn’t just about kneecapping the enemies of MAGA. It’s about creating an opportunity to bring down the law-enforcement apparatus on anyone who dares dissent.

Keep in mind that the far-right has been trying for years to convince the world that Antifa are the official shock troops of the Democratic party. It's even something that we can legitimately consider a "QAnon conspiracy theory".
Welcome to the no borders, pro pedo, destroy ICE, socialist movement - Antifa (arm of Democratic Party).

The end of federal enforcement of special ed laws. Some states - including MN - will likely be ok. But a lot of disabled kids in a lot of states are going to lose the education that federal law and decades of jurisprudence say they are owed.
Education Department wipes out special ed office in shutdown layoffs, union says
The Education Department laid off nearly everyone at the Office of Special Education and Rehabilitative Services.

They have fired the staff of the CDC’s Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report and 70 Epidemic Intelligence Service officers, who are disease detectives that respond to outbreaks around the world.

I cannot emphasize enough how dangerous it is to dismantle our disease surveillance infrastructure.
