In many cultures, “aunt” & “uncle” are used in relation to many adults that don’t have that exact familial connection. And often these adults aren’t even blood related.These terms are used as a sign of affection and/or respect.
It’s shocking that different cultures have different customs, I know.

Mamdani says it was "not a lie" because he refers to his father's cousin as his "aunt."
