Shari Mendes is an architect, a mother, and until October 7th considered herself an ordinary Israeli civilian. She never imagined that after October 7th she would be called upon to volunteer in one of the most painful roles imaginable, identifying fallen female soldiers and accompanying them to burial.In Jewish tradition, burial is carried out with deep dignity and modesty, and women accompany and care for women just as men do for men. What began for Shari as a sacred responsibility soon became a moral calling. She found herself carrying the responsibility to share the stories of Israeli women and to speak about the sexual violence many endured, violence that was denied and dismissed in the aftermath of October 7th.Shari’s message is clear. If she could rise to the call, so can you. Her story reflects the innate resilience and strength of Jewish women.Shari is featured in the Women of Iron exhibition by Chochmat Nashim and is available to speak to communities. Auschwitz was at the end of a process. We must remember that it did not start from gas chambers.

This hatred gradually developed: from ideas, words, stereotypes & prejudice through legal exclusion, dehumanization & escalating violence... to systematic and industrial murder.

Auschwitz took time.

The duplicity and dishonesty of the US DHS and DOJ is shameful in the face of videos and fact witness accounts. Aside from the excessive force while he was laying on the ground (see videos) and had no gun out just a phone, the shooting death of AlexPretti is a homicide.
