I need everybody to read this and understand what’s going on. These are spouses of US citizens in the country legally. They have entry clearance and green cards, they’ve passed background checks and have no criminal records. ICE is taking them anyway.

If the FBI wants to investigate these lawmakers, they should also investigate every military lawyer that briefs service members, from recruit to flag officer, that they are indeed obligated to disobey unlawful orders.
The FBI has requested interviews with Democrats who appeared in a controversial video reminding U.S. service members of their duty to disobey unlawful orders, deepening the Trump administration’s campaign to punish some of its fiercest critics.

Indeed, some of the earliest petitions and what we’d now call letters to the editors that circulated in print media in the early americas were manifestos, and other political writings from enslaved and free Black people arguing for abolition and/or return to Africa.
On my drive back to New York from giving a book talk at Bowdoin College, I stopped briefly at Portsmouth, New Hampshire, where I stumbled on this remarkable history. A sharp reminder that slavery permeated the American experience, even where least expected. www.seacoastonline.com/story/news/l...

I lived life as an autistic person for 41 years, and frankly it's wild to see someone who views your existence as a blight elevated to a position of such consequence. I generally see no reason to discuss being on the spectrum publicly, but I'll make an exception for this vile eugenicist. 1/x
Breaking News: Robert F. Kennedy Jr. said he personally instructed the CDC to abandon its position that vaccines do not cause autism. The move underscores his determination to challenge scientific orthodoxy — in this case, that vaccines save lives — and bend the health department to his will.

Seriously, and I cannot emphasize this enough, fuck this guy. He's a modern day Josef Mengele. Neurodiversity is part of human biodiversity. Autistic traits were evolutionarily selected for. They exist in every population, which means they existed when our ancestors left Africa millennia ago 7/x

This is an important paper at @apsrjournal.bsky.social. It's not exactly surprising that racism undermines effective representation, but it is well and carefully done. Congrats to @markarianga.bsky.social, @jacobhacker.bsky.social, @maclockhart.bsky.social, and Hajnal

"The best social science takes what folks already sense about the world and treats it with the theoretical and empirical seriousness it deserves." INDEED!

And it's also why diversity within the scholarly community is so important. Some of us sense very different things about the world.
So, my pal @jinxungoh.bsky.social sent me a vid earlier abt the quarter-zip trend taking hold among young Black men on TikTok & across Gen Z more generally.

Of course, I have a few quick thoughts (for whatever they're worth).

A brief thread. First, here's the TikTok: www.tiktok.com/@whois.jason...

I did my job. And then I did a job that never should have been my responsibility afterwards, sending emails and having meetings about how this was allowed to happen in the first place. Other women scholars had to spend their time explaining to Aspen leadership why this was not ok.

Bsky hasn’t heard the story about the time that I was giving a virtual colloquium to the Aspen Center for Physics in September 2020 and Lawrence Krauss, Geoff Marcy, Christian Ott all attended as a group

ACP now has a policy that would prevent this from happening, because of that incident 🔭

Been saying this since the 2012 Israel-Hamas war. State violence is violence. A state using social media to communicate a threat of violence is a violation of most social media platforms' policies, yet the platforms do no such enforcement. This calls into question platforms' definitions of violence.
this is a far more explicit death threat from people with the actual means to carry it out

That mean homeless teenager, upending the career of Matt Gaetz.

What on EARTH is @nytimes.com doing?!

She did not “have sex.” She was raped. Because she was a child below the age of consent.

SHE did not “set off a chain of events.” MATT GAETZ set off that train.
A teenager in Florida with a homeless parent wanted money for braces and ended up having sex for money with powerful men, setting off a chain of events that would have a dramatic impact on her life and help upend the political career of Representative Matt Gaetz. nyti.ms/49PSkL9

You will understand a lot about the Epstein files and the bipartisan coverup by considering the fact that literal child rape - the monetized sexual exploitation of Black girls by white men - was the bedrock of the plantation economy. It was COMMON and very few people who are not Black women care!
