So I know Trump started running for president 10 years ago, but I've been very busy. Finally got sine so are time to look into this whole "open paedophile elite culture" thing.

So many nuggets here could be their own article with simple follow up questions such as “what do you mean?” and “and how did that work exactly?”

If you read about the lengths the suffragettes went to, and then consider the five alarm freakout we see every time someone sends a mean tweet to an MP or draws with chalk on a statue, you do kinda start to feel like Westminster has just lost perspective
in general you need discourse monsters, like Just Stop Oil to actually be heard
I get the feeling that @duncanrobinson.bsky.social was really weary when he wrote this para, but also really enjoyed it. From his excellent col this week: www.economist.com/britain/2025...

I'm brave enough to say it - the Trump Ball Room is TOO SMALL.

A strong leader would build an archology overtop the White House. I want to walk through the National Plaza and look down through the glass in fountain-bases to see Trump waving up from the WH roof.

Put it this way: if *Ms. Rachel* is not saying “please don’t kill these people* in an acceptable manner, and is in fact a terrifying hatemonger, then try to imagine the circumstances in which you doing it will ever be fine. They don’t exist.

Bog standard neoliberal politics: the job of the politician is not to keep shit out of rivers or ensure your family eats. We live in the best system imaginable and it can’t be changed, except to be more cruel. His job is to tell *you* nothing can be done. If you believe him, he’s done his job well.
I remember the Tory candidate in my constituency for the 2019 election telling a hustings that food banks were a part of life and that there was nothing that could, or would, be done to change that.

As though there was zero connection between their existence and any possible government action.

The government's keenness to protect "good jobs" in manufacturing contrasts with its inaction in the face of the destruction of "good jobs" in universities. What's going on here is something other than economics.

It's not a groundbreaking observation, but I was struck by this photo of an Australian cop today - truly this guy could be anywhere. Police/special forces in basically every country now wear this exact fit. This could be Ramallah, Chicago, Moscow, Brazil, Baghdad, or Rome.

"Could more people relying on food banks help with our obesity crisis?"
Sophy Ridge to someone from Trussell: "Can I just ask, demand for food banks is going up and this is often seen as a negative thing basically, that it shows that more people are in need turning to food banks. Could you flip that and say its a good thing..."

er, no.

Lol, I think the Labour Party is the only political organisation in the entire world with enough self-loathing to listen to a guy tell them that the last 80 years of their party, including every majority government they ever had, was a mistake and then make them head of strategy.
One interesting nugget in this piece could explain the (otherwise baffling) appearance of Ramsay MacDonald in a 2024 Labour Party Election Broadcast

Remember when HS2 to Leeds was cancelled by the NIC's shitty maths and fundamental lack of expertise, and Leeds was thrown the bone of "you'll get trams" and I said those would never be delivered?

The Palestine Action ban has completely changed what legally defined terrorism in the UK looks like

People arrested for terror offences are now much more likely to be women and dramatically older - arrests linked to Palestine Action had an average age of 57 compared to 30 for other groups

Meanwhile, in other devolved areas... It's all going great! Maybe we shouldn't rely on Partnership UK hangers on in central government OR the most nakedly dodgy bunch of regional private interests to build our communities?

Maybe there's another way? Maybe!?

Is it odd that the police are vowing to arrest people for something they have been explicitly told is not a criminal offence? Well, even the political editor at the Times thinks it’s an eyebrow-raiser, which should indicate something weird is happening.
Amazing scenes, nothing at all dubious is happening here, as you can clearly see.

Look, I'm not going to war for Keir Starmer either. Like I get the point here but also, is there a chance we could avoid doing the 2000s thing of "if you aren't prepared to go kill and bomb for NATO you hate freedom"?
Again these people aren't patriots.

They hate our country and are allied to others who hate it too.

Nothing will ever be achieved by seeking to appease them
