Back in the day, the friends group I had and that appeared in Doemain was a bit of a Who’ Who list and that aspect of my life hasn’t changed. But nowadays I have to wonder if it would look like clout chasing, even though for certain people their presence is a nearly every day occurrence. 🤷🏼♀️
I should really restart Doemain and put out a tip jar. I never did that.
my recommendation is read a bunch of free webcomics, toss dollars into their tip jars, and put on a fancy hat

Woo, Grampa Trump is getting CRANKY! We ought to commission a sturdy rocking chair with some gold-painted decorative crap slapped on it, so it’s in the gaudy style he prefers. Because I think he needs to sit and rest a while. A long, LONG while.

Most publishers (there are always exceptions) decide whether or not to buy a second book (or a third etc) based on how the previous book did. So when you pirate a book in most cases it’s less about the money you just stole from both author and publisher it’s about the future book you just killed.

I see some book piracy discourse, and, to make a positive argument in favor of buying books, your marginal ability to influence what books get published and support the careers of writers you like is massive compared to most other forms of media.

For graphic novels, especially adult genre fiction, it's incredibly helpful to review it online, talk about it, recommend it to a friend—adult fiction in the graphic novel space is difficult to place, and nothing convinces readers that they'll like a book more than the personal testimonial.
If you like an author's work, the best thing you can do is buy it. The second best thing you can do is ask your local library to buy it. Or, do both!
