Genuinely don’t like the fact that one of the most sure fire ways to go viral or get validation in this modern era is to be cynical.

You give up the game before it even starts, you lose.

You don’t have to irrationally optimistic but “lol nothing matters” isn’t better.
Online comedians with the most followers are the most nihilistic people I’ve ever heard in my life

They sound like walking SI symptoms, and people love it — because they understand a similar misery

Basically, I guess what I'm saying is, we knew from the start this wasn't a contender in Pittsburgh, their starting QB doesn't play, and they lose a game by three where they did some good, some bad, and continued to be exactly what they are - a mid team.
Coming back to this this morning, I'm just gonna say something I know isn't going to be popular, but with another day, we really melting down over a three-point loss to what looks like a pretty good Chicago team?

Lots of correctable mistakes, and your backup QB was in. Just putting that out there.

I play beer league hockey once/week, and it's getting to the point where I'm going to have to buy new skates because the 15-ish-year-old pair I have now is finally falling apart.

I'm going to have to take out a damn mortgage to get them. Can't imagine why the sport's so inaccessible!

I said this back in April, and given the insanity of the recent discussions regarding the team...I'm just going to point to it again.
They’ve had missteps, bad picks and all that, but when your franchise QB of basically 20 years hangs ‘em up and you were between good and contenders for the duration, it’s going to take a while to get back to that place. It’s just the reality of the situation.
Putting aside how annoying Rodgers is for a second, is it so wrong to say that the Steelers’ problem is simply a franchise, future hall of fame quarterback retired is why they’re here?

I know it’s not the hottest take, but finding a franchise QB…not an easy task!

Hello once again, Bluesky friends. It's the last week for my Movember fundraiser, raising funds for mental health and suicide prevention resources. My goal is $1,500 for the year and I'm hoping to surpass $8K all-time.

Anything helps! movember.com/m/14227702?m...

this dumb shit is what i mean when i say this is a purely aesthetic “politics.” yeah man, why can’t we have a fusion of cosmopolitan social democracy and revanchist hierarchies of wealth and privilege? tough question.
Matt Stoller: “..Trump & Mamdani defeated establishment in their own way, representing hunger of voters on the right & left who want something different. If those sides cd come together.. that would be a sea change in how we organize our political economy”.

Dan Muse didn’t mince words after the Penguins only took one of a possible four points over the weekend.

@hunterhodies.bsky.social and I talk about how he chose the perfect time to call them out, the roster moves, and more on a new Locked On Penguins.

This really is the story of this NFL season.

There isn’t a single true contender.

If you live and die with every week…hoo boy, you ain’t making it to the postseason without some serious health problems.
There are no truly great teams, but maybe 10-12 good teams that can all beat each other on any given day.

I love it
the best football team is the rams and even they are kind of bad (but it’s fine bc this stafford MVP will be great for my agendas)

If there’s a Steelers Way of any kind it’s hodgepodging together a 9-10 win team that backs its way into the playoffs to just have a shot until they find a franchise QB. Heck they only stumbled upon Ben after one bad year after waiting, what 21 years for one after Bradshaw?
I’m not going to say it would be the worst idea for a reset - we’re seeing it in Pittsburgh with Sullivan to Muse - but when a franchise QB retires; this is life.

Unless you’re GB, you don’t just get franchise QBs right away. It takes time.
Idk, I think it’s time to have a new HC that actually knows how to run an offense in today’s league and won’t hire his unqualified drinking buddies like Smith, Austin and Canada to coordinator positions. And Tomlin’s not the QB whisperer that people like to pretend he is

I dunno, the whole “having an actual starting quarterback” thing probably played a role, but sure.
Brian Schottenheimer was able to reach George Pickens in a way Mike Tomlin could not. If that doesn't tell you it's time, I don't know what does

You know, I’m gonna go on a little thread here that’s gonna sound like excuse making or whatever, but what the hell.

Since the Steelers were last in the Super Bowl, 10 teams have won it. Of those 10, KC has 3, NE has 3, Philly has 2, Tampa, GB, Seattle, NYG, LA, Baltimore, and Denver 1.

Defense got you a score. Your run game was working. And inexplicably you go away from the run on a day when you have a backup QB in.

Smith galaxy brained himself into a loss.

Yuuuuuuuge stop by the defense.

Listen, I’m not as big of a Mason hater as most, but Ian Eagle treating him like he’s some starter in waiting is a tad much.

Know I’m supposed to have a hot take or something, but Chicago’s a solid team. Steelers are mostly solid team.

Wasn’t going to be easy for either team.

Tough to be hard on the offense when the back up QB is in there but this is on the offense for not calling plays like the back up QB is in there.
They had the ability to just take the air out of this game and Art Smith absolutely refuses to do so.
