this. if you are professionally coding, you should probably only use LLMs to generate code in situations where you don’t actually need LLMs for the code to get written.
im bearish on LLM coding success long term not because i dont think the technology can work, but because way too many people building with LLMs today are way too lazy and are allowing the propagation of problems that will significantly hinder their long term success
if models need prior art to build off of (they do) then letting them run wild right now will only lead to worse progress and more problems in the future. if we want them to succeed to the highest level we can’t just throw our best practices quite yet
