I suppose this would be true. The problem is their “duties” are incredibly illegal and unconstitutional.

Sigh, i'll be the one ::black lady norman rockwell meme voice:: i think it is quite healthy to mock the death of racists even if they drew racist bigoted cartoons you may have liked so that bigots still alive will know what will greet them. What is more helpful than that?

Unions and community orgs are calling for a Minnesota-wide shutdown in 10 days to protest the ferocious assault by federal immigration agents. They're saying on Jan 23, no work, no school, no shopping. SEIU Local 26, UNITE HERE Local 17, & others are supporting, w/ more to join. By me, Amie Stager
“We Are Facing a Tsunami of Hate”: Amid ICE Crackdown, Unions and Community Groups Call for Minnesota Shutdown in 10 Days

We need to stop trusting CNN. I know the NYT gets a lot of hatred on here, but there needs to be more of it for this endless fountain of right wing noise masquerading as centrist noise.

For my @xtramagazine.com column this month, I wrote about the simultaneous mainstream media erasure of Renee Good's queerness and the right wing amplification of it as a post hoc justification for her murder. xtramagazine.com/power/activi...
Renee Nicole Good’s queerness isn’t an aside—it’s a key part of her story | Xtra Magazine
We can’t ignore the misogyny and homophobia baked into Good’s killing—and erasing her wife does just that

And we can’t let let then retcon conservatism out of MAGA. It’s always been there. The case isn’t hard to make, just an uncomfortably bold one.

"“They specifically asked me if I knew where the Hmong families lived on my street & in the neighborhood.” Lugert-Thom responded, “I don’t know anything about that” & she said they then asked, “Well, what about the Asian families?”"

"“I was a bit shaken & a bit shocked of what I was asked to do.”"
A St. Paul resident says federal officers knocked on her door and asked her to identify Hmong and Asian households in her North End neighborhood last week.

What the media does not seem to understand is that it is entirely possible to be a whiny, aggrieved bitch who is perpetually complaining of unfair treatment ... without facing any actual discrimination! In fact it's possible for entire demographics to do that!

"We're seen as too close to the civil rights movement,' 'We're too close to Jesse Jackson' ...Anytime Dems lose,
there's always some version of, 'We're seen as too left,' which usually means too tied to people of color," says @smotus.bsky.social. Centrist complaints about "wokeness" are not new.

Today at 34 & Park in Minneapolis, a woman tried to drive down the street where a protest had broken out in front of a home ICE was raiding, saying she had a doctor apt to get to. ICE agents busted out her windows, cut off her seatbelt, and pulled her out before arresting her.

Het dudes have tended to be into ladies going at it. It's been somewhat mysterious why het ladies haven't been into same for guys.

With this hockey show we're getting some deep takes and maybe that's all true. But maybe it's also that they're kinda finding out two hot dudes is better than one?

The little things you do
Like the snow falling on eyelashes
Or the way my little brother giggled when I pretended I was a dinosaur
I have many questions
But I keep coming back to what's in front of my face

The mirror
Let's pretend for a moment
I'm me
(although we both know I'm not)

I should be more careful and not post things catch the ire of nefarious entities. But seeing this shit, especially when Jeffries is out there tut-tutting, *really* makes me think this shit needs a more aggressive citizen response.
New video shows ICE agents detaining a US citizen legal observer in Minneapolis.

The agents smashed his car window, dragged him out, and placed a knee on his neck.

things off the top of my head that i can think of that conservatives have called tyranny

- health care subsidies
- seeing pronouns in an email
- being suspended from a social media platform
- pride month
- baking a cake for a same sex wedding
- legal rulings against donald trump
- EV benchmarks
Trump's thugs are going hog wild and tossing gas around in one of the busiest commercial districts in Minneapolis, just a mile or so from where I live. Complete insanity.

If there's one empirical insight I'd want everyone to understand about American politics, it's this:

America's problems are solved problems. Just not here.

What would change if the US simply matched the average of 31 peer democracies? Not Denmark or Norway. Just the middle of the pack. 🧵
