We need to talk about the rise of "smol bean fascism" where you have all the guns and the immunity but the really scary people are the ones with whistles and phone cameras and they're giving you generational trauma and ptsd by filming you killing people for no reason

I feel confident that I could beat Elon in a fight, keeping my hands in my pockets the entire time. Just dodging every fist he'd nakedly telegraph elegantly until he swings too far and trips and falls into a garbage can.

we must recreate Hayao Miyazaki from first principles in America by taking a F-35 designer's kid and locking him in a Skinner box of Disney movies and classic British children's literature.

For the rest of the hemisphere, América doesn't mean the U.S.

It means evveeerrybody

every new tech has a hype cycle but only very rarely does it live up to the full promise of the hype. in fact it has only happened 7 times: agriculture, electricity, indoor plumbing, the printing press, the steam engine, penicillin, and air fryers. admittedly the last one had us all caught off guard

For the first two seconds of that Nerds commercial I swore I thought Andy Cohen was Jeffrey Epstein. My brain pattern-recognition went off. #SuperBowlLX

This is the ur-grift: it’s not the get-rich-quick scheme that makes you rich, it’s teaching other people how to sell it to someone else.
To be very clear, that lady in the NYT article is not making any money with her hundreds of AI slop books.

She makes money by *convincing people* she makes money that way and getting them to pay her to teach them how to do it.

It's an evolved MLM, and the NYT is helping market it.

This is true.

And all the more striking because we *barely* integrated. Most organizations remain highly segregated but even minor integration was too much for some folks.
so much of our present misery is just a giant, prolonged backlash to integration

The *best version* of the Epstein scandal is that a wide swathe of American elites was palling around with a known child predator and explicit eugenicist for years on end — and is now closing ranks to downplay the severity of his crimes and their own complicity.

Glad I was not assigned the “yes he was a pedophile but people are being too mean to him and blowing things out of proportion” beat. Baffling that anyone would attach their name to this crap.
Last week the far right started peddling a narrative that the outrage over Epstein is a moral panic. Today, like clockwork, a more polite version of that narrative appears in the Atlantic.
