Once and future podcaster from The Sitcom Club. I also edit (and somehow swung a co-producer credit for) A History Of Rock Music In 500 Songs. From Yorkshire, living in California. ''Practically Mexican'' according to my late wife (she liked to exaggerate)

FYI, my following back policy is capricious and has no internal consistency

He did that Dawg impression so far beyond the generation who would remember the original that he might just as well have imitated Disraeli.

He's dressed like Jimi Hendrix now.

I don't remember either Dylan OR Springsteen being a murderer on Columbo, so I'd slow down with rating artists on the Cool Scale

Less than 5 minutes in and he's worked in a Deputy Dawg impression.

Brand new on Dirty Feed: what was special about the Fawlty Towers episode "Basil the Rat"?

Short version: it had two days in the studio, while every other episode only had one.

Long version: www.dirtyfeed.org/2025/10/tc8-...
Fawlty Towers, "Basil the Rat": the Major spots the offending creature in the bar.

Probably, but I doubt anyone got laid as a direct result of it.

If you're interested in Columbo, I've finished posting the Tumblr notes from our old podcast, Just One More Thing, covering the first two TV movies and the first season -- Prescription: Murder through Blueprint for Murder. That's a lot of murder! There are also links to the relevant podcast episodes

You guys would have liked Mrs Araiza, she was an American whose opinion on British food was "I'm jealous of the range of cheeses".

I thought that Solo film was rubbish. I mean Felicity Kendall wasn't even in it.

All four of the main cast of The Good Life got sitcoms of their own after the series finished. Some took longer to arrive than others, but they all got one. Sometimes more. I'd say at least three of them are top of the first division, premier level shows. That's a ridiculously high hit rate.

I think if this was a thing, Mrs Araiza or one of my in-laws would have brought it up.

This is the first I'm hearing of this controversy.

I think the way British people pronounce “tacos” is racist. Like c’mon folks, you use the rounded A (a) sound for just about every voiced A you’ve got. But suddenly “tacos” gets a short A (æ)…

Feels deliberate.

My wife was Mexican-American and thus found the town of Chingford* hilarious. The only time I remember her US pronunciation tripping her up was when I was looking at possible British TV show to buy on DVD and she asked me "What's Zee-Cars?".

*chingar is the Spanish verb "to fuck" but you knew that.
