Wrote this 7 years ago. Critical we understand the GOP and Trump don't use words to communicate facts, but that Trump’s posts and speech essentially are marching orders for followers. They don’t care about truth, not embarrassed by being wrong. It's a cult.

To Trump, Words are a Signal to the Base
We all read a lot of words about how much Donald Trump lies, or how some assertion or other he makes is factually wrong. The formulation tends to be: “is he lying or stupid?” While there is not any...

On October 10th, 2025, Dayanne was assaulted and kidnapped by masked ICE agents. They gave no reason why.

She is beyond brave for sharing her story and reliving her trauma, in hopes that someone will listen—that there will be change. Do not turn a blind eye to her pain.

I've twice explained to spouse that there is no peace plan. Rather, there's a plan to limit the blowback when Trump capitulates to Russia.

Trump will do it anyway: Trump is going to reverse sanctions bc he wants the grift.

He's just trying to limit blowback for Russia Russia Russia.
I need you to listen to and share this story - of how Trump is preparing to abandon Ukraine in exchange for Russian money for his billionaire friends.

It could be the greatest corruption of American foreign policy in our history. Russia gets Ukraine. Trump's friends get rich.

The problem for Republicans is that they’ve never had a serious health care plan; they define themselves by what they’re against. So when they have to produce, nada. Their “ideas” come from creepy billionaire-funded “think tanks,” and would fail in practice.
Why Senate Republicans aren't uniting behind a health care plan
Voting on any alternative to Democrats' Obamacare extension is likely to highlight the divisions in the GOP.

Study after study shows campaign ads barely move the needle. So where does money’s real power come from? I ranked the five ways money corrupts politics—from least to most corrosive. What I’ve learned from 15 years of tracking political money:
Money Doesn't Buy Elections. It Does Something Worse.
Campaign ads barely move the needle. The real influence is hiding in plain sight.

The window has moved the debate to whether the second shot was illegal, which assumes the first strikes were legal. All of it is murder.
The question of whether one act of murder broke rules of war - when there is no war, when dozens of ppl have already been executed w/o trial, when there is attempt to overthrow a sovereign govt by force - is starting to feel less like an investigation than an act of imperial legitimation

It has been painfully obvious for *decades* that far-right wanted force US to listen to far-right speech while making other speech illegal, but our insanely stupid & short-sighted & hateful Elite joined them in pretending their anti-free-speech agenda was actually free-speech.

Exactly. Putting someone on the air to lie and deflect is worse than nothing, your audience is misinformed.
They keep booking these guests thinking that they’re informing Americans by asking “tough questions” into the air, and having them ignored.

If you want answers, invite actual experts. Look some people up. Do some “reporting” and find someone knowledgeable. Come on, already.

It’s clear that the primary interest of the US in “peace negotiations” is to create opportunities for Trump, Witkoff, their family members, business partners and cronies to make billions from business deals with Russia, and Ukraine is just the annoying nuisance in the way.

The myth of that a bunch of young hackers can solve any problem was debunked by DOGE. But the larger moral stain is that this was a heist.

Beyond comprehension that anyone can listen to this loathsome rotting copse of a human being, a compilation of every human vice, and think, "yeah, I want to follow that."
There has never been a more loathsome creature than him.

Would be lovely if anyone learned the lesson of "saying Dems are as bad as the GOP gets the GOP in power, where they inevitably do a lot of stuff that is worse than even your parody version of the Dems would do" from last year, but it is more important to be mean to people you've decided are "libs."

This! Just reporting something without context and immediately going on to something else is not real journalism.
NYT wants US to praise them for documenting Trump’s corruption despite fact they (1) normalize it, corruption not there in headline (2) don’t connect dots for US about how this hurts our foreign policy (3) don’t tie into $10+ billion ongoing corruption (4) they quickly move on, no sticky narrative

Great thread. People whose world view is shaped by things other than facts can be persuaded to believe almost anything.
🧵Donald Trump is famous for being able to manipulate his supporters' opinions. But he comes from a long line of far-right oligarchs who mask radically pro-rich policies as "populist."

The top three things Jesus was on about were feeding the hungry, healing the sick, and welcoming the stranger. Rich men have convinced so-called Christians to starve the hungry, gut health care, and deport the stranger to enrich themselves. It’s astoundingly anti-Christ.
