At least one other boat, the one with the Colombian fisherman, was adrift and displaying a distress signal with its engine out of the water. To attack a disabled vessel in distress and signaling for assistance is basically in the same category as killing shipwrecked survivors clinging to wreckage.

Asked Mamdani for comment on the anti-ICE mobilization that sabotaged a major ICE raid last wkd.
Mamdani described the action as people exercising their free speech, that he looks forward to protecting that right.

Another huge issue, and I don't think people even know this is a thing, is that just about everything is done with smart phones now. And many (most?) seniors literally cannot work their phones. Signing things, texting, dealing with spam and fraud or even using the basic functions? They're often lost

every time my medication is adjusted walgreens reports an "insurance issue" and i have to tell someone at the pharmacy this is happening and they say they'll put in "overrides," and only then will they start to fill it. they seem to treat it as a routine thing. what kind of system is this

I really can't emphasize enough that if you care about local politics, all you gotta do is show up. Just a regular schmegular person showing up. Literally just show up consistently in person and within a remarkably short amount of time, you will have a shocking amount of influence.

It's good—very good, and very important—that district courts keep issuing these 100-page rulings upholding the law. It must be incredibly dispiriting to see them overturned in a two-page, lawless, unsigned order, but please, keep them coming. They expose SCOTUS' corruption like nothing else.

The Pentagon announced on Thursday that the US military had conducted another deadly strike on a boat suspected of carrying illegal narcotics, killing four men in the eastern Pacific, as questions mount over the legality of the attacks.
Video of the new strike was posted on social media by the US southern command, based in Florida, with a statement saying that, at the direction of Pete Hegseth, the defense secretary, “Joint Task Force Southern Spear conducted a lethal kinetic strike on a vessel in international waters operated by a Designated Terrorist Organization”. The agent in the video isn’t fully visible but looks like Brendan Cuni. If so and this is his vehicle, he swapped license plates to avoid detection.
