Just thinking about how the last trip my dad took to see his mom before they had to put her in the nursing home, she had a perfectly normal conversation with him for ten minutes before she casually asked if he had any kids.
I am her oldest grandchild, and my brother is the only grandson.

Next time you’re applying for a job, any job, be sure to mention you were able to pick out a giraffe during a regular dementia test.

What a complete doofus. Richard Nixon suffered no punishment besides resigning from office and enjoying the benefits of being a former president and getting a full pardon. If you have to sit here 50 years later effectively going “well technically”, no he wasn’t held accountable.

It says a lot that I - who has multiple Titanic miniatures, who has a half-dozen disaster related T-shirts, who wants to build a Triangle Shirtwaist factory miniature one day, who’s been taking trips to disaster sites for the last few years - first reacted to this by yelling, “EWWW.”

Look, I love my grandma but she could be A Problem even before she was dying, and I will bet anything she’ll go on Monday - after my dad has to leave, before my uncle can get there, and right in time for me to have to go into work the next day during the busiest week of the year like it’s nothing.

You also have to consider... respectfully that maybe Denmark is making bad choices.
If you want to give us the Denmark vaccine schedule, you also need to give us the 6+ month parental leave the Danes get, so that new babies can avoid picking up germs at daycare, and you need to give us universal healthcare.

I love my grandma, I hate she’s in the middle of dying (she’s had dementia and doesn’t remember I exist), but we weren’t close and so my reactions are:
1. I feel bad for my dad.
2. I don’t want her to suffer anymore.
3. Can she please pass in the next hour so I can call off work for bereavement?
