I haven't done nearly as much game design work recently, because I have been working on becoming a game publisher! Starting with a co-design of mine that I really believe in, but hoping to move beyond that if it goes well 😀

Please come along on this journey with me - we all need good diversions!
I am pleased to announce that Necessary Diversion Games' first offering will be 'Snacksquatch' where adventurous kids use sugary sweets to catch cryptid kids! A face-down bidding game where giving too much sugar to a monster will get the highest bidder swatted away. Here's a preview of kid Nessie!
Now allow me to enumerate the many game design flaws of the Puppy Bowl...
As a game designer, I've come to recognize that football is a fundamentally flawed game held up by an ever increasing number of rules patches.

Let's start with the snap. 22 very large people need to see/ hear a small ball move in a deafening stadium before they go 0 to 100%. Insane core loop.

Would have been quite a coup if they kept this aspect of the story out of the marketing and build up and left it as a organic surprise, however..

Contrast with non-American football. Core loop (you kick the ball) is clear, smooth, and mostly uninterrupted. There are safety rules on contact and tackling, and they aren't perfect, but critically they don't change quickly in context. But there is one standout inelegant rules patch, offsides

- The president kicked 4 Republican Senators in the balls this week. Here's why that's great news for Republicans.

- Democrats soft on ball-kicking

- It's time we starting kicking balls again as a country

- KABA - Kick America's Balls Again

Starfleet Academy ep 3 was a crime against television. I've heard later episodes really pick up but man that was rough

Can someone tell me who today's main character is with the wild AI take is? I support not QTing to dunk, but seeing so many oblique references and not the name it's driving me nuts

Child at the podium: “A woo woo woo.”

A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms is everything good about Game of Thrones and none of the awful parts. Remarkable really.

Spot on casting, class consciousness, realistic politics and intrigue, no sexposition, no plot bloat

Media has taught me that there's always one grizzled agent, broken and compromised but clinging to a shred of honor, who can't act directly because of a niece but finds a way to leak the key information to a spunky young reporter to bring down the monsters in charge.

Not gonna happen

Paradox of tolerance, folks. When you tolerate a creeper, a bigot, a transphobe, basically any person who endangers or drives away others, you also drive those people away.

And those people mean so much more. Regardless of the prestige, the 'talent', the money, whatever it is of the intolerant one.
"We would have lost so much if we'd driven him away" is the justification.

But we lost all those girls. We lost the women they would have become. We lost the work they would have done. Why was his future work so much more valuable than theirs?

Why is the Masters of the Universe cast so stacked?

Idris frigging Elba is doing Masters of the Universe. And then they put Jared Leto to guarantee it will bomb.

I do not understand

Everyone should watch this
Sir Ian McKellen performing a monologue from Shakespeare’s Sir Thomas More on the Stephen Colbert show. Never have I heard this monologue performed with such a keen sense of prescience. Nor have I ever been in this exact historical moment.TY Sir Ian, for reaching us once again.

Your periodic reminder that Upper Deck still hasn't substantially responded to the call for boycott over their pending wizard sh*t trading cards.

Upper Deck sucks.

Bitterness and cynicism are a form of surrender, when anger at injustice remains but the will to confront it is dulled by resignation. As true warriors, let anger at injustice be bright and righteous, and let it drive us to confront its cause, stand in its way, and cast it down.
