Hello Bluesky! Do I need more social media in my life? No! But am I sick of No Joy in Muskville (a bit heavy on GOP sociopaths) and Instagram (ads n’ grifters)? Yes! So here I am. Enjoy this photo of my shy kitty Little Miss luxuriating in the sunshine.

Fuuuuuuckkkkk Amazon.
“After that extra-contaminated water leaves Amazon’s data center, it then gets dumped and sprayed across local farmland in Oregon.”

Eewwww
Everyone knows data centers use a ton of water.

What hardly anyone knows: they can poison the water that remains.

And in eastern Oregon, Amazon is doing exactly that.

Extremely sad to hear the news that cartoonist & musician JD King has died. I discovered his work when he illustrated a @lindamariesmith55.bsky.social record in the early 1990s, but he was also known for his band, the Coachmen, featuring a young Thurston Moore. www.tcj.com/rip-j-d-king...

One of the best bits of my job @thequietus.com is asking @danieldylanwray.bsky.social to write about Sheffield & its music & this is going to be such a brilliant book on a fertile city (arguably one under-celebrated compared to certain places across the Pennines that never shut up about themselves)
This - finally - is the definitive musical history Sheffield so richly deserves.

GROOVY, LAIDBACK AND NASTY is @danieldylanwray.bsky.social's authoritative and hugely entertaining story of the city, told through its independent artists, scenes and spirit.

Four decades back a major label released a debut album that sounded like almost nothing on earth while still sounding incredibly familiar. Our man in San Francisco Ned Raggett takes stock of it all

A female wolf has been doing something unusual on the Central Coast of British Columbia. She's learned to pull crab traps up from the water, yanking on a rope to bring it to the surface. But is it tool use? Very fun story from @phiejacobs.bsky.social for @science.org
Have wild wolves learned to use tools?
Video captures a lone female pulling crab traps out of the water, but does it count as tool use?
