Again, the idiocy of threatening the sovereignty our closest & most important ally & squandering the greatest strategic advantage we have in the entire world should have been an immediate presidency-ending scandal. But then, so should all of the other things, too, if we were a more serious country.
My friends used to roll their eyes & laugh at me (a native 🇨🇦) in the 1990s/2000s, when I insisted 🇨🇦 was far & away our most important ally & every president’s first call & trip should be to Ottawa. We’ll discover how lucky we were not to have a single worry & an ironclad ally on our northern border.
this pretty good article by @dahlialithwick.bsky.social covers quite a few examples.
It doesn't go into the parallels directly but they are clearly there.

I realize broad science-literacy problems cannot generally be solved just by shoving more facts at people but I really wish more people understood that the entire purpose and mechanism of a vaccine is to educate your OWN immune system, making it about the most "natural" medical intervention possible

Heard the latest news from the LIGO-Virgo-KAGRA collaboration? We detected the collision of the most massive pair of black holes so far: #GW231123 weighing in at ~137 + ~103 times the mass of the Sun!

So to celebrate, here’s a handy chart ✨

Just how chonky are these black holes? 🤔

Why does anyone think the Epstein stuff matters in terms of Trump?

He's already been proven to be one of the worst humans on Earth. He has already been proven of breaking big laws, and not caring about being busted for being with and paying off prostitutes.

None of it stops him. Why would this?
