Here's how bad EPA's voodoo economics is in repealing the clean car standards: they assign a ZERO DOLLAR VALUE to increased smog & soot pollution, increased asthma, bronchitis, respiratory disease, hospitalizations, missed work & school days & STILL cost Americans $180 BILLION in overall costs. 1/
The harmful, costly, twisted consequences to Americans from the Trump EPA & Lee "Heir Pollutant" Zeldin repealing the clean car standards: $180 BILLION in net societal costs.
Their main RIA scenario finds a net cost to society of $180 billion!

‘We Will See Them in Court’: Environmental Lawyers Vow to Challenge Trump’s Repeal of Key Climate Finding - Inside Climate News
The Trump administration repealed the EPA’s 2009 determination that greenhouse gases are a pollutant, an important legal foundation for their regulation.

File this under N for no shit
Crucial point from @grist.org:

"API pioneered many of the arguments now wielded against the endangerment finding... Trump’s EPA used many of these same arguments in its proposed endangerment finding repeal, demonstrating how much his deregulatory agenda owes to the oil industry’s work."
Trump just killed the EPA’s ability to fight climate change. It may backfire.
The EPA’s repeal of the “endangerment finding” could threaten automakers and oil companies — if it survives in court.

In #NMPol #NMLeg, the industry has mounted a years-long full-court press to change state rules to allow discharge of this waste, "treated," to rivers, streams, and groundwater.

The tech to treat this safely does not exist.

We have defeated these efforts thrice, and we will continue to fight.
🛢️ NEW 🛢️ The US fossil fuel industry produces a trillion gallons of toxic drilling wastewater a year — and gets rid of most of it by injecting it underground. What could go wrong? (A lot.) buff.ly/t96dPPI

Call your Senators.
BREAKING: The House passed the so-called SAVE America Act which threatens to upend our freedom to vote.

The bill could disenfranchise millions of eligible voters by requiring documents like passports or birth certificates to register to vote and forcing voter roll purges. The Senate must reject it.

This represents a huge leap in the opposite direction of democracy. No democracy, no environmental protection. Voting is sacrosanct. The Senate must kill this bill.
BREAKING: The House passed a voter suppression bill called the SAVE Act.

The bill requires every voter to present an ID & a passport or original birth certificate to register to vote.

This will stop millions of Americans who don't have these documents on hand from voting.

Wildfires. Drought. Flooding. Extreme Heat.

We can either keep paying for disaster recovery - or plan ahead to reduce the pollution making these crises worse.

That’s what the #ClearHorizonsAct does.

New Mexicans are already paying for climate disasters - through higher insurance rates, emergency response costs, and rising energy bills.

The #ClearHorizonsAct is about planning ahead so families don’t keep footing the bill.
