State Senator Emily Alvarado just spoke to the Washington Low Income Housing Alliance annual meeting and observed that if Washington just adopted the average tax scheme of some other average state, we'd have around $300 million in extra revenue beyond what we have today.

Fixing Alki would be the easiest thing we could do in all of Seattle… it quite literally doesn’t go anywhere. There is no reason for anyone to be driving *through* and certainly not to expect doing so to be fast or efficient. We should use it as a model and drastically update it and reassign space.

@seattledot.bsky.social has a framework that acknowledges these horrific crashes are preventable, Vision Zero.

However, there’s no framework (e.g. Emergency Streets) to rapidly respond to horrific crashes and ongoing known hazards.

@wilsonforseattle.bsky.social we need a Vision Zero Response Team.

SDOT just announced they'll be completing the final block of the Beach Drive SW Healthy Street on Alki Point, finally connecting the multiuse path to 63rd Ave SW. This block was not included in the original project, installed in 2024.

Work will start before the end of the year.
