To understand the desperation bleeding from these leaks you need to remember that the anti trans movement in the UK have a pre determined timeline, as they view it, for what will happen.

The SC judgement was a tactical victory for the anti trans movement in the UK. No point denying it 1/x
"Trans people could be banned from single-sex spaces based on how they look. The Times has seen the equalities watchdog’s final guidance, which Whitehall figures fear Bridget Phillipson is delaying to avoid a political backlash" [Times]

Now I've woken up a bit more and had more coffee: the Russian invaision of Ukraine was meant to demonstrate both Russias power and its new, modernised, post conscript Kontraktoi forces. Most of those are currently fertilising Ukrainian wheat fields, and now Russias back to the conscripts. 1/2
We really do need to underline this for people - because somehow the prevaling myth seems to be Russia is winning: the invasion of Ukraine has been the largest political, military and strategic blunder by a state since the Franco-Prussian war. Maybe greater

Russia has lost on every concievable axis
Not a single strategic goal has been met. Russia's losing a Vietnam's worth of soldiers every few months. The economy is sprinting toward stagnation, while Moscow is turning more and more every month into a Chinese vassal—all while the Kremlin's allies topple elsewhere.

Staggering historic failure.

Another thing thats occurred to me: if the US military wants to keep distance from the Epstein Files maybe dont copy the city states where child rape was considered part of the bonding experience in the barracks.
It's actually amazing how Laconophilia has successfully laundered the reputation of a polity whose maximum size in population and territory was smaller than that of an average medieval kingdom with an infinitely smaller cultural output and far fewer military successes
And then Spartan Oliganthropia enters the chat

I think it depends where yoy look on that one: certainly Celtic Catholocism has elements of the old faith running through it both physically (certain trees must be in graveyards) and spiritually (survival of Green Man ceremonies). Im not that convinced by Wicca's claim of centuriew of secret worship
I don't think you can meaningfully reconstruct what has long gone away, I don't think it did "persist in syncretic forms" in the way that people insist, and perhaps most of all, I don't agree with the motivation, which I find a trojan horse for nationalism and, yes, antisemitism.
The point of my thread is not some sort of defence of the idea that you should be Christian, it is a rejection of the idea underpinning 102% of neopaganism in modern Europe.

This ruling is disappointing but one thing is clear: the EHRC’s draft code of practice got the law wrong and must be changed. Women's and men's toilets can be provided on a trans-inclusive basis for customers and service users. [1/3]
Today’s judgment makes one thing very clear: the reality of trans lives still goes ignored by the courts.

Read Jo Maugham’s response to the crisis of empathy that’s harming the UK’s trans community – and the law 👇

Trans lives are real and they matter. The courts must recognise that
The High Court’s decision is wrong and we will appeal it

Labour acting as though you're entitled to every left wing and centre left vote *despite repeatedly telling said voters to fuck off* obviously having no impact. No its clearly Polanskis fault for not rolling over when Labour asked him to. Should the Lib Dems also have withdrawn their candidate?
Yeah, about the whole progressive alliance, tactical vote thing we need to do to stop Reform...

This could be a challenge
Robert Peston, "Wouldn't you regret Reform UK coming through in Gorton and Denton if The Greens split the left vote?"

Zack Polanski, "We cannot say that Keir Starmer's Labour would be a left wing vote"

I mean why not also acknowledge that "free speech culture" seems to mean "I want to use slurs and get upset when people tell me to fuck off?"
Recently, @kenwhite.bsky.social wrote that “free speech culture” is being invoked as a rhetorical shield for the powerful and a pretext for state censorship.

I disagree. Hypocrisy and grifting don’t discredit the idea that underpins our strong legal protections for free speech.

"History is women following behind with the bucket."

So Morgan McSweeney has been replaced by Jill Cuthbertson and Vidhya Alakeson. Antonia Romeo is about to take over from Chris Wormald. Steph Driver may return to fill Tim Allan's vacancy.

Sense that now there's a mess to mop up, get the women in

Jesus thats a mental image
Stasis: it was crystal clear after they got wiped out in Scotland over ten years ago that Vote For Us And Our Very Wealthy Donors, Or The Kitten Gets It was finished as a viable form of governance. Everything since has been shrieking and flailing, frantically trying to pretend it was still a goer.

*Looks shifty in British*
The aversion to learning different languages and proud willful ignorance for only knowing English is entirely unique to the US. Every time I travel most people I encounter can speak multiple languages. I don't get why the US is like this.

Its really kinda, bitterly, funny that Disneys first move having bought LucasArts was to ditch the rambling, somewhat contradictory and wildly inconsistent existing Star Wars canon (not including my beloved Wraith Squadren) to ending up in *exactly* the same place.
Is it because you watched it?

Apparently the only person in Westeros who understands the abstract concept of finance is Littlefinger, and this is like halfway implied to be due to his Braavosi Racial Bonus.

Windrush migrants died overseas in countries they'd left as tiny children or had never lived in trying to come home. The fucking audacity of this prick
Starmer speech is a mess, even ignoring the Mandelson bit. In the space of a few minutes he has criticised Goodwin, said the left doesn't support "core British values", described the idea that Windrush migrants were vulnerable as "liberal vanity", called out Gaza marches and criticised homeschooling

But there are limits. Why should I disagree respectfully with someone who thinks I should have less rights because of who I love? Why should I show respect to someone who thinks friends and family of mine are intrinsically worth less? There are lines where we should be able to disagree firmly!
Exactly 👏
