To understand the desperation bleeding from these leaks you need to remember that the anti trans movement in the UK have a pre determined timeline, as they view it, for what will happen.

The SC judgement was a tactical victory for the anti trans movement in the UK. No point denying it 1/x
"Trans people could be banned from single-sex spaces based on how they look. The Times has seen the equalities watchdog’s final guidance, which Whitehall figures fear Bridget Phillipson is delaying to avoid a political backlash" [Times]

Just so many lies in this one clip

On the pro Putin point:

Farage was running pro Russian and pro Putin lines as recently at the last general election.

On Gill:

He was very close with Farage, heavily involved with the Brexit party and then Reform.

Where's the follow up?
"Did UKIP have a problem with an MEP who clearly was corrupt? Yes, it did."

"Did he join Reform? Very briefly in Wales? He did."

"I can't investigate UKIP in the European Parliament in 2018. How do I do that?"

Someone doesn't seem keen on an investigation...

Just the constant ahistorical, ethno nonsense being spewed by these pricks drives me up the wall. Also the underlying glee in their voices as they work to make their horrendous visions a reality. This idea of Eastern Europe or Europe in general being a series of ethnic enclaves is fucking wrong
Endless wanky moaning about how it is "simply impossible" to have multiethnic or multireligious states in Eastern Europe is of course trivially historically false, but the other thing is that it is extremely privileged, the territory of people who have nothing to lose if that were true.

I know who Nus Ghani MP is - not because we always agree - but because she’s been serving her constituency (as well as lewks) since 2015.

Who the hell is Lucy White?!

Ah, a quick google search reveals her as a rentagob for GB ‘news.’

I know which one is qualified to chair the budget debate.

I've observed it in my own family. Until my cousin came out as trans, and arrested the descent of some of my relatives, they were going down the pipeline aided by the Times and Telegraph
yes I don't really see how you can go "oh yikes these people have changed their political views incredibly quickly, mostly because of what Very Online people talk about on social media" and also think that people who went from never talking about gender to calling trans women predators are....normal
I don’t like subtweeting people I consider online friends, but there is a subset of people who are very worried about the ongoing radicalisation of our political elite but won’t ever acknowledge the echoes with the radicalisation of their colleagues on trans rights

One use of working in a EU political space is watching how so many of these far right leaders often have feet of clay.

Farage has benefitted from UK media disinterest in what he was saying in the States: primarily anti semitic conspiracy theories with a sprinkle of his well known Russian sympathy
The “savvy” view is usually wrong - both morally but also as analysis. Farage’s views and character are a really important part of why the polls are where they are!
All the supposedly progressive people saying 'Nigel Farage's racism doesn't matter. His fans love it'.

It matters whether the leader of the party leading all the opinion polls is an outright racist. It matters if he called black people 'wogs' and said 'gas them' to Jews. Not everything is a game

The hush puppies, the cigar..... truly nothing changes
Was a true pleasure to go to Nottingham to interview Ken Clarke, truly the archetypal big political beast.

In an extended conversation, we talk about Reeves nightmare Budget, his long political journey and his fears for where politics might go next.

This little transphobic rant by Hadley Freeman in the Sunday Times really shows how pathetic gender critical ideology is. They play victimhood every day from the national media, while childishly insulting the existence of trans and non-binary individuals, calling any criticism of that 'silencing'.

I'd argue for Dan Jones' Henry V: reads like a cross between a charming BBC drama and a coming of age story
Antal Szerb's The Queen Necklace reads like a charming and clever historical novel, which is amazing as it's actually.....all true
Ok BlueSky: what are your favorite history books in terms of sheer page-turning, narrative propulsion? Thinking along the line of Killers of the Flower Moon, etc. Nonfiction chronicles that read like novels or movies.

So Abolition, the US - Indian wars, the US Civil War, you could even argue the Texan Revolution falls under that given the Texan Republic rebelled to remain a slave state from Mexico.

Also you're in a bind if you want to talk about Imperialism, colonialism etc
1. Texas A&M has voted that Professors must seek out official permission to talk about trans people, sexuality, or race.

One of the professors said that the new policy would make routine lessons on things like the Holocaust impossible.

The Texas Board of Regents said it wasn’t restricting “teaching,” but professors—and a university press release—says otherwise.

Yeah this is ahistorical. With maybe the exception of the Socii city states, every other part of the Western Roman Empire was forced on pain of annihilation to join, and in the case of Carthage and Corinth was annihilated.
Also the other thing I'll say which is far more controversial, less historical, more theological, basically morally unprovable, is that any pain that the inhabitants of the former Western Roman Empire suffered in the wake of its collapse was karmic punishment for the sin of its creation.

I now have a truly odd mental image of a pro Starmer posting gently holding a card board cutout of the PM
This is just pro-Starmer self-soothing frankly. Literally any of the plausible replacements are obvious upgrades.

Just so we're clear Liddle laid hands on his pregnant partner. As he is a media darl8ng, he suffered no consequences
Rowling and Liddle are both repugnant, hate-driven arseholes, and this stuff is saying that believing they are is some kind of wild extremist insanity that must be expunged. How long do we think these miniature Canutes can send back the incoming tide, do we think?

Dragon age brought joyfully queer storylines in from the start while Mass Effect had to wait until a Specialist and her 20,000 credit toothbrush
Bait is the only explanation for people whinging about Dragon Age 'going woke'.
Convinced a large amount of these kinda things are just bait.

The fate of the Nazi Ernst Rohm remains a grim predictor of what would happen: dragged from his partners bed and executed despite his conviction that the Nazi oppression would spare him as one of the 'good ones'
Shapiro and Weiss seriously thought they could fan the flames of reactionary politics and it would spare them. Did they think they could spew racist and transphobic bigotry and it not end up growing into a monster that eventually came for them too? They made this bed for all of us.
