Two guys walk into a bar.

The third one ducked.
Me, watching the Pitt - "Huh, this is pretty good. I think I like it!"

A fight breaks out in the waiting room. Head nurse comes in yelling - "Where do you think you are? This isn't Philly!"

Me - "Fucking Yinzers."

In fairness, the shredding of the Constitution, the Nazification, the conversion into a murderous rogue state, the killing of citizens in the street, and the apparent extensive child sex crimes have really put those felony convictions for financial crimes into perspective.

Not to get too dad-core or anything, but the perfect birthday gift is:
- a WuTang reunion tour recording (vinyl)
- a Miles Davis & John Coltrane concert recording from 1960 (also vinyl)
- the 1976 Phillies yearbook (vintage, in sleeve)

My wife is pretty great.

This fucking rules. What a wonderful tribute.
I've been thinking lately about the idea of "cringe". Dan was the exact opposite of that.

Last thing about Dan

In a world filled with AI slop & homogenized writing, writers like Dan- an original voice with an infectious curiosity- are needed more than ever

A computer could try for a trillion years to explain in a novel what Dan might capture with one picture or post

You can’t fake it

Not gonna be able to walk by a shitty t-shirt store on the boardwalk without crying for a while.

I'll laugh eventually though.

I think the best way to honor Dan's memory will be to find joy in drilling down on something excessively silly.

Dan was one of the best I've ever seen at building in-depth, meaningful stories from moments most of us dismiss as trivial. That skill is why people are calling him a Philly legend. I'm trying to be grateful to have experienced that as long as I did, not angry he didn't get to keep going longer.

I'm having trouble keeping it together, but I can say this; as fantastic of a writer and representative of Philadelphia Dan was, what you will here from anyone who ever interacted with him is how good and kind of a person he was.

Dan McQuade was one of the sweetest people i've ever interacted with on social media. This one stinks so much man.

Fuck cancer. Dan was a real one.
Rest In Power @dhm.bsky.social. A pillar of Philly Twitter that will stand the test of time.

Look we’re not trying to minimize the crimes of real-life villains by comparing them to fictional characters but also… I cannot be the only one thinking of her right now

I shoveled 9" of snow yesterday and it was fine. The 2" of snow + 2" of ice on top that I just finished?

My body is broken.
