This is wonderful news, and also means it’s time for me to beat the drum I always do when HPV vaccines make the news:

They are not only for women! HPV also causes penile, anal, and head and neck cancers. The latter are particularly deadly. Please vaccinate ALL your children.
Australia recorded ZERO cases of cervical cancer in women under 25 for the first time since they started tracking the cancer in the 80s.

This is the power of vaccines.

The HPV vaccine is extremely effective at preventing cancer.

Viruses can be oncogenic. Get your vaccines and protect yourself!
newsGP - Australia set for world-first cervical cancer elimination
Vaccination programs have played a key role, and GPs remain ‘instrumental’ in boosting screening rates to reach the 2035 target.

"Take that to the casino and double up" from the man who owned eight casinos that went bankrupt.
When the strongest argument for your policy is a list of lies (I count 7) and exaggerations (another 5), you reveal more than a wonky list of truths ever would.

Whenever I see a picture like this I am reminded that Ben Shapiro's solution is "just sell your house, then," and that among conservatives he is considered one of the smartest ones, and which given the competition he just might be.

Conservative is an alignment to existing status quo. Our existing status quo is a machine built for eating people, so we must not be conservative. If we created a status quo dedicated to human thriving rather than profit of capital, we might well become conservatives. bsky.app/profile/matt...
So you're saying there's only one way out of the fascism trap, and it's not trying to carefully be the right amount of conservative.

OK, it looks like a lot of the stuff around Edward VI's death is best described as not contradicted by the evidence.
Which means that, at the same time I'm enjoying the story, I'm also trying to parse out which parts of this are historical fact, and which are invented for the narrative. Given Weir's expertise, I assume everything beyond the specific motives and emotions attributed to people is real.

"Left on the economy, right on culture" is also, as needs repeating a hundred thousand time, the central lie of fascism.

OF COURSE it appeals to the in-group who thinks their well-being AND their prejudices will be pandered to.
The thing about "left on the economy, right on culture" is it's based on analysis of swing voters. Those voters are often low attention and their politics are often not especially coherent. Which is fine for them, it's not their job to run the country, but, you know, the government is

I have a new icon doohickey!
I was also big into deltas in 2022. This first one was quite popular, inspired by the Star Trek Universe brand logo. The simpler version is also nice, I think. /4

Corporate Media is going to pretend that Trump is heartbroken about the two West Virginian National Guardsmen being shot in DC, but the entire point of moving a standing army into a peaceful city was to induce violence by The People to justify more violence by Trump on The People in retaliation.

Dear foreign nationals in war-torn countries, terrorism hot-spots, and amidst our enemies:

If you help the United States, we’ll fuck you over and abandon you. Not the individual servicepeople or intelligence officers — they’ll fight for you. I mean the depraved, soulless leadership of the nation.
So now they’re going to be doing individualized re-review of tens of thousands of Afghan evacuees’ cases on TOP of the re-review of 200,000+ refugees who entered under Biden?

The problem with ICE is not that it's targeting people who aren't criminals. The problem with ICE is that it's an unaccountable secret deportation police. It cannot be reformed under a better president. It can be made less terrible, but the instrument of repression remains for the next tyrant.

The FBI had to use a million dollars worth of black sharpies to get Trump's name out of the Epstein Files.

And he's still freaking out about whatever couldn't be redacted.
Newly released emails show the FBI spent almost $1 million in overtime analyzing the Epstein files as part of an effort dubbed the “Special Redaction Project."

It was only a failure if you assume they ever had good intentions. If you assume they intended to destroy the federal government from within, they succeeded.

We’ll be dealing with the results of this monumental breach of the federal government for many years to come.
This point needs to be made and frequently.
