It doesn't help that the original thread seemed make the "That's a weird impulse to have no matter what you're saying it about" criticism, which is a thoughtful valid critique, in the same breath as "And also what if it turns out you actually ARE hurting the AI's feelings?" which is fucking stupid.

This thread is bizarre. They ping-pong between something like "Slightly rephrasing existing bigoted canards to say them about AI is questionable and arguably harmful behavior even in the absence of the AI being able to be hurt" which is reasonable, and "Stop it! You're hurting the AI!" which is not.

Just on a practical note, it's a terrible idea for a CEO to personally wade into TOS violations and the banning or not banning of users because the minute they touch it, they own it. Everything that happens is no longer an amorphous "mods" issue, it's a CEO issue.

I think what's most important here is that we all split into two factions that treat all statements perceived to be "from the other side" not as authentic statements that mean what they say but as shibboleths that signal absolute agreement with a single specific obviously incorrect position.

It's so wild how Escape From LA is just a remake of Escape From NY masquerading as a new film.

But at least Escape From LA is very fun and worth watching, even back to back with NY. Far more than I can say for Be Cool which tried the same remake/sequel thing with Get Shorty and is kinda painful.
