Wurman is being pretty slippery with his definition of "purpose." There was extensive discussion about the impact of the Amendment on Chinese immigrants and "Gypsies," so they knew it would have a broader impact than just on children of freed people, and agreed on the interpretation of the words.
The evidence is the text. All you have to do is read the Constitution.

Netflix’s co-CEO pitched Trump on letting Netflix buy Warner Bros. Trump supposedly said he was fine with whoever bid highest, which was Netflix.

This is why corporations bent the knee. It’s easier to deal with one guy than a half-dozen agencies and members of Congress.

Congrats again to Jake Tapper & Alex Thompson on their book sales
They’re clearly plugging this dude into an IV regularly and, if this were Biden, there would be demands for weekly hour long press conferences from his doctors on his health. But that’s not how authoritarianism works so stop asking questions already.

I don't see what's stopping the European Commission from saying something along the lines of: "We will no longer post on X and we don't think citizens of EU nations should post there either."
So what's the outcome?

2️⃣5️⃣ of the 27 Commissioners have posted in the last week

2️⃣4️⃣ of the 27 generally post every week (Albuquerque has never been on X, Ribera is sporadic, McGrath has somehow stopped)

0️⃣ have stopped as a result of what Twitter has become since the Musk takeover

Anyone else want to put Tom Cotton on top of a capsized boat in international waters miles away from Venezuela and see how helpless he is?
WELKER: Lawmakers say the 2 men appeared to raise their arms potentially to surrender. Why did Admiral Bradley interpret these actions as anything other than them trying to survive?

TOM COTTON: They were sitting or standing on top of a capsized boat. They weren't floating helplessly in the water

This is where originalism is really spiritually aligned with straussianism—you, the clever contemporary scholar, are capable of uncovering the true hidden meaning that for centuries has eluded all those other chumps
It’s also plainly absurd that someone just happened to discover the true meaning of the common law that just evaded everyone else for 800 years in a few weeks of work. I don’t even know what to do with that.
the idea that a handful of conservative legal scholars have an understanding that should supersede a settlement affirmed my generations of american is astoundingly arrogant, and the idea that trump — or any president — can unilaterally overturn that settlement is just despotism

You were saying?
"Palantir disclosed that Mr. Karp received $6.8 billion in “compensation actually paid” in 2024, a figure bolstered by Palantir’s soaring share price, which last year swelled the value of the stock and options awarded to him."
"Because working people have been shunted into defined contribution, self-funded retirement schemes, their futures are wedded to stock market returns in a way that people in similarly wealthy democracies find unimaginable." Inequality in the US is obscene. My thoughts:

This is related. Stand up for good values and criticize bad values— that’s what calling Cotton a fascist who must be defeated is, and it’s what saying “immigrants make America great” is.

And elected Dems are the ones in a position to lead on this. Which of them will do that?
At some point someone just needs to say “you are an indecent person, you are lying to cover the slaughter of defenseless men, you know you are lying, and even under the tenets of your own professed faith you will certainly burn in hell if you continue down this path”
WELKER: Isn't it possible that even the act of taking off a t shirt could've been part of an attempt to get attention for help?

“The polls say we have to embrace fascist values“ - UK Labour, and the SchumerJeffriesQuantbrainPoll loser crew.

that’s why we have to defeat the QuantbrainPoll people who lead the Democratic Party, starting now.
The UK has been economically weak for 150 years. Brexit, supported by the Russians made it worse.

Europeans are naturally racist, especially in times of hardship. Ironic given that genetically they are the same.

Labour is simply reacting to citizens anger which is driven by racist propaganda.

This is the UK Labour Party, the left-liberal party who took power in a wave election after the fascist-adjacent conservs melted down.

We MUST prevent the US Democratic Party from turning into this. It is an essential priority. If they come to power and do this it will destroy America forever.
This is so disgusting.
