One year ago today, a spectacular aurora display graced the night sky across much of the globe. This was my view in *Oklahoma.* What a beautiful world we are fortunate to live on. #photography
Pink, green, and orange aurora pillars with a SAR arc and moon-lit clouds over relatively still waters of a large lake. The andromeda galaxy between a red SAR arc and the Milky Way. Numerous pinkish aurora pillars with a bluish-purple sky and spotty clouds over relatively still waters of a large lake. Read all of popehat’s posts to the thread. Lots of the comments are funny/on target as well.

OK. It's going to be coming out soon because of the relentless investigations of Pam Bondi and Kash Patel, so I might as well admit it before the news breaks:

I am the General Counsel of Antifa.

Timeline cleanse. Also bloomscrolling, because tree leaves are as beautiful as flowers.

Photos from today's walk at the Seattle Japanese Garden (thread). I was quite taken with these red leaves, dangling by a bit of spiderweb in a way that made them look like they were falling.

Closeup of half a dozen red maple leaves, suspended mid-air by (near-invisible) spider web threads in a vertical line such that it looks almost like a composite image of a leaf tumbling down from the tree, twirling as it falls. Dark greenery blurry in the background.

Big adventure in the yard today!

NATIVEPLANTGUY: *bent over to pull a weed* Yeah, I’ve been trying to catch these little weeds while they’re small—
ME: STOP
NPG: *freezes*
ME: Step back, slowly.
NPG: *steps back*
ME: Whew.
NPG: Rattlesnake, right? Where?
ME: *points*
NPG: …whoa.

They’re targeting New York Attorney General Letitia James for one reason: she had the courage to hold Donald Trump accountable.

This is political weaponization of our courts, plain and simple—and proof that when you stand up to corruption, they come for you.

I’m not kidding when I say these weird ass costumes and antics are actually an extremely effective tactic from a media standpoint bc when enough people do them, the media can’t fully scrub them out

U.S. District Judge April Perry says it comes down to a "credibility determination."

"I simply cannot credit [the Trump administration's] declarations to the extent they contradict state and local law enforcement. … DHS' perception of events are simply unreliable."

#BREAKING A federal judge say she will grant "in part" a request by the state of Illinois for a temporary restraining order against the deployment of National Guard troops into the state.

U.S. District Judge April Perry is still ruling and has not outlined the details of her order.

Donald Trump is not a king — and his administration is not above the law.

Today, the court confirmed what we all know: there is no credible evidence of a rebellion in the state of Illinois.

And no place for the National Guard in the streets of American cities like Chicago.

But but but God CHOSE Donald Trump to lead us to a Christian theocracy! Just as our forefathers intended! The foremothers didn’t intend anything. They lived Biblical lives, barefoot and pregnant. Ask any historian.

DHS needs to be burnt to the ground.

We got along fine without it, and it has made our lives worse since it appeared.

It must be ripped out, root and branch; the ground sown with salt.

CBP, and ICE need to be remade, and reshaped.

It can't be mended, it can't be repaired. It is beyond hope.

Gonna be thinking about this lede for a minute.
(RNS) — Last month, the Rev. David Black stood in front of a Chicago-area U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement facility and spread his arms wide. Adorned in all black and wearing a clerical collar, the pastor looked up at a group of masked, heavily armed ICE agents on the roof and began to pray.

“I invited them to repentance,” Black, a minister in the Presbyterian Church (USA), said in an interview. “I basically offered an altar call. I invited them to come and receive that salvation, and be part of the kingdom that is coming.”

But when Black began to lower his arms a few seconds later, the agents responded to his spiritual plea by firing pepper balls, or chemical agents that cause eye irritation and respiratory distress, video footage shows. One struck Black in the head, exploding into a puff of white pepper smoke and forcing him to his knees. Fellow demonstrators rushed to his aid, and as the pastor rubbed his face in pain, the agents continued to fire.

“We could hear them laughing,” Black said.

Of all the many, many questions Pamela Jo Bondi refused to answer today, the most incendiary was about whether she's seen photos of Donald Trump with unclothed underage girls. It is so damning that she couldn't just say, "No."

The U.S. Treasury shared a proposal to mint $1 Trump coins to mark America’s 250th anniversary.

But U.S. code says only deceased individuals may appear on U.S. currency, a tradition dating back to efforts to break from monarchical rule. https://wapo.st/4pWsyL3
