Denemarken trekt voorstel voor ‘chatcontrol’ in na felle kritiek: ‘Druist tegen alles in waar Europa voor staat’

Een Deens voorstel op Europees niveau om de verspreiding van kindermisbruikbeelden op berichtendiensten en sociale media aan te pakken, stuitte op zoveel weerstand van verschillende landen dat het niet eens in stemming werd gebracht. Denemarken moet daarom terug naar de tekentafel.

This outcome goes against @europarl.europa.eu's previous position on meat denominations from 2020.

It undermines EU goals on competitiveness, innovation, and sustainable food systems.

And will also introduce unnecessary legal uncertainty & potential rebranding costs for the plant-based sector.

355 MEPs voted today to ban the use of meat denominations like burger & sausage for plant-based products.

This is a manufactured issue. Consumers are not confused.

If there was ever clearer evidence of political decision-making being heavily influenced by the animal agriculture lobby. This is it.

This is an EU proposed policy with the benign-sounding name "Child Sexual Abuse Regulation" which proposes to screen private online communications using sketchy image-scanning algorithms. It is technically unworkable, and would be a privacy catastrophe, especially for those in authoritarian states
