The European Commission is threatening to delay (again!) the EU's law to protect the world's forests – they say it's because their computer system isn't ready 🙄

We wrote to the European Commission: the EU must keep its commitments to stop forest destruction, no more delays

COMMENTARY: Between January and April of this year, an astounding quarter of all flights in the eastern Baltic Sea region experienced GPS disturbances.

And the fact that these incidents haven’t resulted in any aviation disasters so far is thanks to pilot skill.
Russia’s GPS interference is the new normal
Half a dozen countries are experiencing an extraordinary surge in GPS disturbances. But collectively, we can blunt the harm of these dangerous tactics.

Odesa.

Maybe they should ban the use of 'burger for anything that doesn't come from Hamburg - that would make more sense.

Streets are still closed off in front of the Portland ICE facility at 8:30pm. Protesters have gathered on a side street. Dance party in progress.

This outcome goes against @europarl.europa.eu's previous position on meat denominations from 2020.

It undermines EU goals on competitiveness, innovation, and sustainable food systems.

And will also introduce unnecessary legal uncertainty & potential rebranding costs for the plant-based sector.

355 MEPs voted today to ban the use of meat denominations like burger & sausage for plant-based products.

This is a manufactured issue. Consumers are not confused.

If there was ever clearer evidence of political decision-making being heavily influenced by the animal agriculture lobby. This is it.

EU Parliament pushes for ‘veggie burger’ ban
Unbelievable we are in a climate crisis where meat production is a huge driver of carbon emissions and deforestation
And instead of promoting meat alternatives - they are trying to ban them

Maybe you should read the law and write about the consequences instead of focussing on this. It will not stop CSA at all. It's an illusional law with big consequences

This is an EU proposed policy with the benign-sounding name "Child Sexual Abuse Regulation" which proposes to screen private online communications using sketchy image-scanning algorithms. It is technically unworkable, and would be a privacy catastrophe, especially for those in authoritarian states

📣 Germany's close to reversing its opposition to mass surveillance & private message scanning, & backing the Chat Control bill. This could end private comms-& Signal-in the EU.

Time's short and they're counting on obscurity: please let German politicians know how horrifying their reversal would be.

We are alarmed by reports that Germany is on the verge of a catastrophic about-face, reversing its longstanding and principled opposition to the EU’s Chat Control proposal which, if passed, could spell the end of the right to privacy in Europe. signal.org/blog/pdfs/ge...

🇩🇪 Germany is AGAINST Chat Control:

Jens Spahn: "We as the CDU/CSU parliamentary group are against indiscriminate monitoring of chats. That would be like preemptively opening all letters to check whether there's something illegal in them. That's not acceptable, that won't happen under our watch."
Germany voices opposition to Chat Control, tilting the balance.
